    Favourite Riding Routes

Hey, keen to hear about and share fellow KB's favourite social riding routes/haunts/cafes etc....

Auckland area would be of particular interest (for me anyway!)
    Cheers! Toaster.

Ok, for a close to home run that's great after work and takes around an hour and a quarter if you go fast and an hour and a half if you go moderate is over Kauiau. I leave home, shoot up the Hunua Gorge, drop left over Monument road into Clevedon, head out to Kawakawa bay, the Orere to Kauiau.

Right where the petrol station is at Kauiau, I turn right and head towards Mangatangi, where it joins the road from Miranda to the state highway, turn right, enter the main highway before the Castle Cafe, turn right after the Castle towards Hotel DuVin, then straight through towards Bombay, but hang a right towards Ararimu and come down the hill from Ararimu back to the Motorway at Ramarama. You get all the twisties you want, heaps of nice sweepers, good straights and everything in between.

It's an awesome ride for any skill level too. There's a few places where you can see a long a way and give the bike a bit of a tickle.

What Beyond Said. There are some nice roads out towards Manukau Heads but they're not as twisty...more winding. The whole area around Whitford, Maraetai, Kawakawa, Kaiaua, Hunua, Clevedon and Miranda has a huge range of Straights, Sweepers and twisties - it's just a playground for a bike.

I like it coz I don't have to ride across Auckland to get to it either!

    Exactly

My favourite playground in my own back yard. Almost as good as the Coro loop but then to get to the loop, the boring straights

    Yeah, ya beat him.

That road from Whitianga over the hill to Coro is still one of the best in the country, especially when you get on the hot mix seal in the twisties. Thats is awesome.

Yeah, Coatesville Riverhead has been dropped to 80.

SH16 always a good ride ... only prob is that alot of it has just been re-sealed this week. North Makarau for about 25 ks!!!

Should be fun when the loose stuff has gone tho!!
