    Belated hello from Chisanga

    Hi all

Been lurking and posting on these forums for a couple of months and as my first bike finally arrived today I thought it about time to introduce myself properly.

I have been fascinated by the works of art that are motorcycles for as long as I can remember but have been put off because my mother has always been strongly opposed to my owning one ever.

Finally after a successful year at university (I returned two years ago to complete my BA), approaching my 33rd birthday and watching "Long Way Round" for the umpteenth time I decided to no longer be the person who says "Yeah, i've always wanted to ride a bike" and become the guy who says "Yeah, that's my bike outside".

It has definately been an interesting process for me personally since I decided to purchase a bike especially considering the emotional rollercoaster this whole forum has been on the last few weeks. In the end I decided to follow my dream and hope to have many years of safe and enjoyable biking.

I want to get to meet you fellow KBers (especially McJim - fellow VTR owner out East) out there and when I am confident go on a newbie ride or two.

So there we go that's me - drop me a line if you wanna go for a ride (at your nanna's nanna's nanna's nanna speeds) or just to say hi.

    Safe biking everybody

    Cheers

    James

Nice looking VTR! - where did you procure it from?
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

They are probably quite exhilarating to ride with no clothes on as well

Ah yes... Patrick sold me my VTR as well - recently traded it at Mr Motorcycles in Pukekohe for my K6 Bandit - the chaps there said it didnt stay in their showroom for long...

Someone picked themselves up a great bike, just thought it may have been you

Hi James, welcome and there is nothing at all wrong with going at your nanna's nanna's nanna type speeds (I should know), as long as you eventually get to where your going!! Stay safe dude, and enjoy that cool bike of yours!

Mmmmm but the gravel rash and skin grafts can be a pain in the arse...literally.

I'll PM you my contact details and some evening or weekend if the weather is fine I'll relate some of my bike experiences to you and will try to give you some good advice (like get in touch with a Mentor and attend RRRS at your earliest convenience etc.)

I've been riding for 8 months now and have clocked up about 12,000km in that time. Out riding most weekends and I commute from Botany Downs to Ponsonby and back every day.

    Welcome to the KB world.

    Hi James,
How are you enjoying the VTR?

I have the same bike as you which I have only had for 3 days after having to wait for ages for it to arrive.I am new to motorcycling to, and like you where inspired by the DVD Long Way Round and other similiar storys.

I have clocked up 590km since it arrived on Fri evening and find it easy to ride, it will need its first oil change in no time.I am lucky because we do not have the amount of traffic down here that you have to contend with.

Hope your having lots of fun on yours.
