Unhappy My shit day at Thundercross

well i ended up goin riding yesterday. went out to thundercross valley for a ride.
a few spits of rain on the windscreen on the way but all looked very dry around the areas as we pulled up and payed our money.

first off we did the B loop, very very dry, no problems at all.

came back for a drink and a rest .
went back out to have a go at the A (expert) trails and the trails was also very good, until i found a steep loose hill and arsed off near the top, on the downhill bike crashing back down and into a drain rut on the side of the hill. this is when we found the first problem of my day, my clutch cable was on full adjustment and wast still releasing to far at the end of the throw! we managed to pull my bike over the tricky stuff and through the ruts up the hill. on the way back flying down a looong rutty straight I hit a problem, i kinda skipped across a few , but on one it caught my back wheel, and bottomed the suspension, giving my back the full impact! I was in alot of pain from that and limped home to rest and fix my clutch.

we got back to base and had lunch and tried to fix my clutch, but to no avail as we decided it was internal.i decided i would limp along (me and bike) to try finish the day. i had another go at the A, and arsed off again! same spot further across, struggled with my back to get the bike up and spin her around. got her turned around and went to the bottom again , and got up 2nd attempt this time.

back to base again, then back out and did 2 fast laps of the B loop (well as fast as I could with bike and rider injured).

came back and for my final loop decided to race around the A again. got around ok , pinned the throttle and got up the nasty hill, VICTORY FOR THE DAY!!!!.

got up the the next tricky bit, a bridge that is made of of wooden pallets that cover the big bogs below, but their is also other lines. I was going halfway across then jumping off the bridge and then getting off and going through some bogs, as it was easier. but this time i didn't even get 200m into the thing, i started off slowly, and with my dodgy clutch, i stalled, and off course on the bridge their ain't nowhere to put your feet down, so over i went and SPLOOOSH! into a big muddy puddle i went. leg trapped under the bike, i kicked the bike off and rode home and called it a day, while being laughed at by my riding buddies about falling a huge ass puddle. stupidest thing of the day but I was laughing about it.
    good day, tracks are good!
injuries and bike to fix now over xmas.

Sorry to hear about the damage, but sounds like the trails are a bit of fun anyway. I think I might know the hill you mentioned, as there was one on the A loop I've had a hard time with when its been quite dry down there. Not an overly good run up, plus its steep, long and with a kink to the right about half way up? If so, I've seen it claim a few riders. I've always found it a bit tricky, especially the bottom bit before the kink. You have to be constantly moving your weight, a fraction too far back and the front tries to hoist, too far forward and you lose traction. Satisfying when you get to the top though.

I was there yesterday as well, I know the hill you mean and I have seen loads of guys struggling on that hill in the past. That hill is all about momentum and not hesitating pick your line and keep it smooth.

Yeah you are defiantely missing out if you haven't been there it has a good mix of ups/downs tight and open track with some good jumps thrown in to the mix. I ride there every couple of weeks and it never gets crowded so it would be good to see some more of you out there.

what time were out out there? I was riding a CRF230, 588 on side panels, O'neal gear top to toe. didn't really notice and 300exc while there, unless you were part of a group of friends with the same company on the vehicles.

You were fanging down a rutted track, the rear bottomed out and you took the full force through your back. You should of been standing up. It's a riding tip.
