Applying vinyl wet?

Hi everyone,

Just in the process of sorting out some vinyl sticks for the bike, got a tricky one and just want to know how not to stuff it up.

Its a two layer sticker as you can see from the piccy, so will have to get the alignment spot on, whats the stuff to use so you can position it around a wee bit? And then just squeegy out the liquid and bobs your mums brother?

yup thats what I used to put stickers on models. bit of soap or detergent with water.

I had me some sticker cut by the local signwriter not that long ago for a freshly painted Honda cb 400 (or somethin)

I also applied the stickers with the old water and detergent trick but made a right royal fuck up . Ended up with lots of widdle bubbles that I could not get rid of.
I went back to the signwritter who told me that they had long given up the water-detergent trick and are putting them on with just a rubbersqeege, dry !!

Up to you but I wold ride into a signwriter and ask very shyly for help. I'll betja he'll ripp the thing out of your fingers, puts it on fer you and whishes you a merry Xmas

When my sister and I put the Union Jack vinyl on my mini roof, detergent and water did the trick. Used a small hand squeegy to smooth it out. The trick I found was to keep it wet, if it moves out of alignment you can keep moving it around.

Also make sure you remove and grease or wax from the painted surface.

2nd photo shows the blue not aligning to the red.....

Smart arse...

yeah, its tricky to get it right... took all afternoon to get each individual seperate piece aligned corectly. Even then it was not a 'true' representation, as the diagonal red strips are meant to be slighty offset. But no-one noticed that...

Just did not drive it near the Queen..
