    Brand new bike, Dud battery

It's long past now, but when I took delivery of my new ST1300 earlier this year, and rode it home to Tauranga from Masterton, it obviously performed as a new bike should. Incidentally, the ABS certainly saved my life on that first trip, as I was riding at night in the rain between Taupo and Tokoroa, a car pulled out of a forestry road on the the State Highway directly into my path. The Male Driver had his head hanging out the window smiling as he cut me off, - no doubt back from his hooch patch. As well as shit myself, I had the presence of mind to hit ALL brakes - remember they are linked on this model, and ABS. I managed to slow the Pan Euro suddenly enough to miss the end of the Holden as he wheelspun past, - WANKER.

Anyhow, back to the subject, - I had a few rides on the bike in between work commitments, then one day went to start it...................click click click. BUGGER. I thought maybe all tinkering and showing off the electric screen may have flattened it, then dismissed that. Recharged the battery - all good.

Next ride, same thing happened. By now I'm suspecting the aftermarket heated grips the Honda shop pre-installed may have a leak and be draining it. The local Honda shop picked it up (GP Honda - great service then and since by the way) and found the battery to be a dud, replaced it under warranty, no questions asked.

Thought some Members might find that of interest.

By the way, some people have asked why I went all the way to Langlands Honda in Masterton (ask for Mike - great Guy to deal with) to buy the Honda - the reason was, by trading in my R1150R, I was $4000 better off than the deal the "local" Honda Dealer offerred!!!! Thats a fair few rounds of Heinies.

Merry Christmas by the way, and RIDE SAFE, please!!

it may also have been the regulator, as mine went in the 05 gn250 i had. it was 10 months old, and that was the final straw and it wound up traded in.
if the regulator is poked, the battery wont charge right, and wont hold the charge either.
