    Cool.
Always a Guzzi friendly place out West.
Got plans while your up here?
We love nothing better than to strip backwater Mainlanders bikes to a bare frame while they are extanging pleantries at the dairy.

Wanna catch up, give us a bell 0212112511 if you get time.

    A couple of options.

    1) Hit Palmerston North and head up 54, on to 1 (yek) until Turangi, scoot up 41 (has some nice twisty bits about the lake) to Kuratau Junction then 32 (bit boring, but few cops - never seen one yet) to Mangakino. Just follow this road up the LHS of the Waikato river, it is sealed and sign posted to Te Awamutu and Kihi Kihi. Awesome piece of road for a start, twisty, beautiful scenery and again never seen a cop. From Te Awamutu jump across to Pirongia then up 39 to Ngaruawahia. Hard to explain from here and my map doesn't show it, but you can stay on the LHS of the Waikato the whole way up to damn near Mercer. Then you is stuck on 1.

2)Head for Wanganui all boring and straight to Wanganui, no escaping this. Head up 4 all the way. You know you have hit nirvana when you see the sign - Twisty road next 52km - Sure there are some boring bits too, mostly about national park, but it hots up again from Taumarunui to Te Kuiti. 4 empties on to 3, head up 3 to Otorohanga then to Priongia. From there see option 1. Note 4 was cut up when we went down for LB's funeral and there was masses of tar bleed, particularly between Wanganui and Tohunga Junction. Hopefully a lot of the road works is complete by now.

Just a few ideas to keep you off of 1. Less cops and some bloody good road in there too.

    When you coming?

You could always get to Ngaruawahia take a left out to SH22, this will keep you off 1 all the way to Tuakau, then thru Pukekohe out to Drury - then you join Southern Motorway (SH1) from there to your Auck destination

    Just an idea...
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

Or you could take the river road from Ngaruawahia that follows the western bank, through the back streets of Huntly, cross the river at Rangiriri, immediately turnoff SH1 into Te Kauwhata and then cross country through Okaeria to SH2/25 and come into Auckland via Kaiaua and Clevedon. Fantastic!

We came thru it on New Years Day in heavy heavy rain but I wouldn't have slagged it as much as this. Yup it was a slow ride so I guess the bumpiness and the lack of chip on the seal (= bare tar) didn't really bug as much. I can imagine if you were trying to do it at a clip and carving turns, that might be more annoying.

Half the road has collapsed in about 5 places but they are well marked with plenty of warning. In all, as it was the first time we'd done it, we found it a really cool ride even in the crap conditions - even Nasty enjoyed it.

I would say do it if you haven't been there before because it's an amazing road through amazing country

Arrr shite... now i will have to think about getting a BBq around here ..somehow?
was hoping for a quiet romantic evening... sitting on the deck, watching the sun go down... and the dogs chasing ghost rabbits...

or i know i could issue all comers with a brush and have competions on who can brush the dogs the best....

or who can pick up the most doggy doo

or play... lets all fill in the holes the dogs dug while i was out riding...

or.. lets quess where we are going to sleep

or .. now this IS a good idea.... we could tie luke up and draw a red dot on his belly and get the slug gun out...........

    what a ride so far!!!!
