I See Her Every Day
I see her every day
She is there when I rise and go to work
She is there when I come home
It seems as though she hasn't moved all day
Although I know she must have
Sometimes she waves at me
Full of energy and life
Sometimes she is calm, enigmatic, mysterious
Like the Mona Lisa
What secrets is she hiding from me?
Is she teasing me?
I've seen her angry, violent and dark
I've seen her calm and serene
As though nothing could ever trouble her
I've visited her on occaision
Played with her, laughed with her
I must admit she has frightened me at times
She can change suddenly
Becoming full of anger and rage
Violently she flings her body about
Tossing over and over
Until the rage subsides finally and she is calm again
I've never argued with her, I know her too well for that
Most times we get along
I think we respect each other
Although when I visit I accept I am in her turf, her place
And I mind my 'P's' and 'Q's'
It's better that way
It is comforting to see her there
I'd miss her were I to move away
Though we'll never be really close, intimate, if you like
We'll always be friends
As long as I respect her, listen to her
She will always let me come and play with her
I choose a day when she is calm, in a good mood
I'll always love her in my own way, too
She has a soft voice that soothes my soul at night
When I lay awake in my bed
An ode to the sea.

Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans
If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...

You're lucky to have it be the last thing you hear when you go to sleep.
Miss living near the ocean...
We're not as close now. Our last house was close enough to hear it, but while we now have a view of the eastury we can't hear the sea anymore. Shame, but I do admit I prefer living near the sea and a nice beach. Must be due to living at Sandspit when I was born and growing up by the sea and mucking about in boats.
