What? Where? And do they have a cardio part (like treadmills etc, NOT classes) or is it weights only?

Sounds like my dream gym, I would never in a million years participate in a class, so I don't see why I should pay extra for the option of going to them. A weights/cardio membership only would be right up my alley.

    Cheers!

Women are worse than men when it comes to staring and bitchiness. When you work out at a "normal" gym everyone just does their own thing without worrying what the person next to them is doing. In some ways women intimidate me more than men!

Just stay off the piss, eat a bit less, and keep being as hyperactive as ever.

    Gym problem solved.

ROFLMAO - You're a very entertaining "happy" person Your eyes don't point in the same direction and your internal dialogue comes out, so to speak

I went to Contours years ago, thought if there were no men, I'd actually concentrate on working out! It was a waste of time - the majority of the women (at the Lower Hutt one anyway) were REALLY fat so I'd look at them and think "I don't need to work out, I'm half their size" or I'd just lose motivation because there were no men to impress by working hard!

Now we have three acres so I tend to go walking around there instead. But I would like a treadmill for those wet/cold/windy days when you can't be shagged going out!

Have you ever considered cycling as a stay fit option. Tis some good mounatin biking in Wellington, Makara Park, Mt Vic, the regional Parks, up to the wind turbine and down to red rocks, in the Akatarawa area there is good riding in the Karapote area. If you live within 10km of work you can easily cycle back and forward each day. The hills are a bonus cause you get a better workout. Its hardly any slower than driving, saves a lot on vechile expenses and gym fees, and does your bit for the enviroment. Its fun wizzing along, if you love motorcycling then cycling may have some appeal. No horrible sweaty gym machines or people to have to put up with. If you owned a mountainbike you can fit slick tyres for getting around town on then swop to knobblys for going offroad.
Thats what I do to stay fit anyways and it fits into my day. Its a good way to switch the brain on each morning. Have done the gym thing many years ago and has nooo appeal anymore for me. I love the freedom of getting on my bike, no schedules to stick to.
I am interested to know what you think ?
There are a lot of people cycle commute in Welly each day, hell around Oriental Bay in the mornings it almost turns into a race, it faster than driving at times and it keeps you alert dodging buses and cars.

Yeah so maybe you don't need a gym, but as for quitting the piss Jim must see you through different eyes than I do. You arrived at the BBQ the other day saying you'd been on the piss all afternoon and I still found you sane and coherent to talk to. Will I get Xmas card too for saying that?

If you need a workout we could offer you an hour or so on the vacuum cleaner at our house because that was daughter's job for a while until she went to Uni 2 years ago?
    Cheers

It used to be on the corner of the Terrace/Balcock until a couple of years ago when it moved to Atrium Towers (opposite the James Cook).
Well equiped gym in a new building with sauna and lap pool. I've always found them to be very freindly. I'm not sure about joining fees but I'm only paying $12 per week off peak ie not between 12 - 1. I think including peak is something like $16. And the big plus... No posers
I was a member there last year, think it was $50 joining fee then $18 a week (with a min 6 month term - it was $16 with a min 12 month term) - it was ok, some of the cardio stuff had seen better days IMO, and the small changing room/showers were pretty bad - the one on Willis is meant to be better...

I'm impressed! Your profile says you are in Napier, so riding to Wellington via Oriental Parade every day would undoubtedly keep you fit. What's your average speed and how many hours a day do you work? I bet you're utterly stuffed at the end of the week!

I just moved to a place at the very top of the hill in Northland. Decided to mountain bike into work yesterday, and the ride into town was pretty sweet, only took 5 minutes! the ride home was horrible though, took almost an hour and I just about died going up the hill (I guess it's uphill all the way really). I tried mountain biking into work again this morning but had to turn around after about 50m and take the zx6 in instead since my mountain bike seat is made of something resembling rock, and getting back on it this morning made me feel like I'd been dropping Maurice's soap all night I need a new gel seat before I get back on that freakin thing again.
