MY GAWD of course I would laugh anyhow. I have views on things as well but I would certainly make sure they are well grounded before I headed out and spouted off. Intolerance springs to mind!

Anyhow, I have to make myself up as "Aunty Rangi" and head off to the 7s! You have a great day!

What kind of response was that? Do you have anything to even base your accusations of intolerance on?

Why would I go for anything if I discovered you were maori? I'd only go for it if you started demanding to be treated differently because you are maori.

Otherwise I'd probably just give you shit about being fat, ugly or stupid.

And riding a fucking shit bike.

    Nah, I'm taller than Brad.

I wasn't calling you that and if you stop and take the chip off your shoulder and actually read my posts you will see that I do not wish to judge people by labels based on culture, ethnicity or any other grouping.

I was saying that that is how I'd treat you, taking the piss out of you, and treating you like any other person.

I do not see any need to have differentiators. You obviously do.

Dover, you will see that I too don't care about the culture of a person when I meet them. I find it interesting but thats not what makes up a person. People don't see me and immediately think MAORI either- I wouldn't want them to do that. I have had people talk to me about things Maori and if i dont know them - i actually find it a bore! I would rather talk about other things. A main part of my job is to accept other cultures and build on the similarities. I wouldnt want the children to be differentiated in any other way. They don't see me as Maori either - they see me as a teacher first and foremost - they also might see me as a fat, ugly thick bitch - but they keep that quiet

MY GAWD - i am late.

By integrate i guess you mean we all are ONE culture - which is yours? That would be a scary thing by what you have written in a few posts. I wouldn't want to see NZ as that at all. It's sad you cannot see how awesome both cultures are. You might need to actually get out there and realize that NZ as a whole is actually a great society and people accept more than just one culture. BTW I will make sure I am out of your way if ever I am on a bike ride with you

Hate to point and say - WTF!
But you seem to be the only person who isn't integrating. There are more cultures here than just Maori and English. Look out the damn window.
Its all a big compromise of english, french, maori, polynesian, american, chinese, korean, russian, italian.............. so please people - if you think your culture is the greatest go live in a box.

S'funny - there are parts of Scotland that cling to a dead language that has no use outside of a few towns - most of us have moved on from that (some of whom went on to invent TV, telephone, Tarmac, penicillin etc.) I'm not actually making a comment about Maori Culture here but my experience of New Zealanders reading what's not there and then claiming to be PLAIN TALKING will probably cause this post to be an insult to Maori *sigh*.

Dover was basically saying in his usual fashion.

"I will know you before I judge you - if you are an idiot Iwill call you an idiot regardless of race, creed, colour or religion."

e.g. he calls me a fat white c*nt.

I just cant believe someone would talk with such disregard for someones feelings like that. He can judge her when he meets her. Elle is a friggin awesome teacher who talks about her kids with such passion and compassion!!

BUT, none of these other cultures demand recognition or demand reparation.
Neither does she!! But she is allowed to be proud of her roots.

Sorry elle... this got me angry!!

btw I'm from viking desent.... YAY for raping and pillaging

did you read the rest of the posts or just the one where the nasty man shouted at the poor woman?

what the fuck has her being a teacher, good bad or otherwise, got to do with this fucking debate? I'm great at my job and do also do a great bbq, but that is irrelevant here.

She can be proud of her fucking roots, I never denied her that, but she cant force them on anyone else or demand to be treated differently for it.

Fucking hippies and do gooders. Focus on the actual fucking issue which is inequality and demand for reparatation, albeit mainly by a small group of militant maori, but you dickheads seem to be defending them and their perceived right.

Um Dover - you need to settle.....I just popped in because there ARE other views out there that are a little different to yours mate. I have no idea why you think I am forcing my views on you - I haven't done that and I wouldn't waste my time but seeing you blithering your side made me want to blither mine! Fair's fair in the MB! All I have done is exactly what you are doing but in a more acceptable manner - and stating where I am coming from is all. There is no need for name calling as you seem to think its the thing to do - well, good on you but hell, it's kind of out there

There is inequality no matter where you look and what side you are on. We both see that and ya know, if I were not Maori I probably would agree with you to a certain degree but I wouldn't be so militant about it because its really not getting you anywhere. You are just speaking to the converted anyhow. As for reparation - I guess the government saw the papers of the confiscations and thought that maybe the paper trail justified it huh! I know my tribe is doing VERY well thank you - Kia Ora Kai Tahu!! We got the money by going through the courts and digging into paperwork - nothing more.

Anyhow, again, you have a wonderful night!

um.... are you referring to ALL Maori or those that are in the headlines? If you think this way - where do the other cultures go to? Do the English go back to England, Do the Welsh, Scots, Irish go back to their countries? What happens if you have more than one country of origin? I think you outta think before you spout

I am happy at my Marae, I speak Maori and no other Maori seems to think I speak it wrong - they understand me and there is never an issue, We didn't write anyhow as it's an oral language, We were never hunting to extinction - we were self sufficient and amazingly didn't have to have quota either because we used sustainability and conservation, and I hardly think Maori in those days starved Talking about houses etc that you want back - do you really think Maori were not trading BEFORE the British arrived? I suggest you take a look at some history! We were heading overseas and had huge trading ports anyhow so one would think.......that we would have had everything that we needed anyhow.

Anyhow, again, we see things differently. I love that NZ has many cultures! It's an awesome thing. Of course I am not speaking for any other Maori in this forum - I speak only for myself because I wouldn't want anybody else speaking for me.

shame your main source of protein, due to lack of other mammals of edible size, was each other.
