Most of the girls signed up to do this ride all ride with the blokes anyway. There are a couple who haven't but we will hopefully encourage them to join in other rides when they are more confident.

I remember my first KB ride - I was so nervous! But everyone was very welcoming and it was a lot of fun - it's just getting along for the first time that takes a lot of guts. When you don't know anyone it can sometimes be easier to come along with some people you know will be thinking along the same lines as you are.

Even as the number of chicky riders increases all the time, we're still an unusual bunch and still a minority in nz. Hopefully the sight of a big group of gals on bikes will also encourage other women to take up riding. When I started I came from the country (which is still a couple of decades behind the city) and I was always THE only chick out riding. I have met so many women who say they have always wanted to ride a bike but never thought that gals actually did it, or that they themself could. I see a girls ride as being no different than having a couples ride to encourage couples in sharing in this awesome sport/hobby, or a learners ride to encourage learners to get out there and give it a go! I'm wrapped to see that this time this ride has not been bagged. Cheers to Jill and Niksta for organising it!

As Jill said I too will be encouraging ALL (guys & gals) riders to join general kb rides. How the hell else are we gunna outnumber these cagers
