    Wellington traffic

What is it with Wellington traffic at the mo? The run in from the Hutt is packed every morning, with long queues from Haywards all the way to Korokoro - have they changed the sequencing of the lights or something??

Makes me real glad I'm on the !

Takes until April for people to settle down after having a couple of weeks off. Yesterday there was an accident North of the BP station on the Old Hutt Rd between 7:15am and 7:30am and Fulton Hogan had a lane blocked. The repurcussions of an accident seem to reverberate for a couple of hours on the traffic flow.

You guys should try travelling across the city at rush hour. That bloody bypass has done exactly what we said it would: just shift the bottleneck further down the road. Good luck getting round the basin between 5 and 6pm

actually I've done this - did a run into wmcc after work but got there after 5:30, it took longer to get into town than it did to get out and I wasn't splitting on the way out either as no need

The new bypass has not only moved the bottleneck, but has extended travel
time trying to get accross town, the light sequence is so long if you are trying to get accross it

You may have a point - this time last year I was getting the train in from Plimmerton, so that's why it seemed quieter!

Don't know what caused the holdup between Haywards and Lower Hutt lights this morning, but the next holdup from Petone is cos FH are resurfacing the road (overnight) and the new road surface seems to confuse some drivers
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

I'm lucky enough to be travelling north along SH2 in the mornings. The traffic has been really slow this week. One of the chaps I work with took an hour to get from Upper Hutt to Petone this morning.

It's been pretty busy down the Gorge as well. Just take it easy out there guys, there'll be a few frustrated cagers around.

Just a quick heads up about the Takas. Just went up for a play and they're up there busily mowing the sides of the hill on the road, there's stones and debris all over the road, just be careful folks!

The problem with wellingtons traffic is that everyones so excited about going to work they're falling asleep at the wheel and having accidents!!!
