About 6 years ago - when I separated from my wife (we're back together again) and I was at the zenith of my with anger, self esteem and depression issues, bla bla bla... - I had a beer bottle thrown at me as I rode past 3 young Polynesian brothers who had congregated on the side of the road in Mt Roskill. It was about 11:30pm at night and because I had nothing better to do with my life at that time, turned my bike around, parked it up on the otherside of the road and walked over to them.
As I still had my helmet on, they must have thought it was Christmas thinking that John Smith from Remuera was going to take them on. Imagine their surprise as I took my helmet off, greeted them in Samoan (which I am) and preceeded to use my Helmet as a baton and the side of their Toyota Cressida to knock one of them out - unconscious.
My ardrenalin was maxed out. It was intense. In total it lasted just over a minute. And thankfully it took a very brave old Chinese man who lived nearby to stop me from from doing any further damage.
Two points I'd like to make here:
1. If you feel lucky punk and decide to pull that bike around - Quicky weigh up the situation and dont fark around. Nothing beats intent and the element of surprise.
2. HOWEVER - make sure that you aren't related to anyone you smash. It doesnt go well with the extended family - especially if you have disfigured them for life.
