you 'took me out' after oldguys puncture when we had decided to can the rest of the ride and hust head for the pub, i was hardly going fast and indeed you 'took me out' just before the 50kph Clevedon area.

from oldguys puncture on, all i was doing was leading the bikes to the pub, did you think that was FAST!?

Thats whats wrong with the world today, no respect for your elders..... back in my day we knew how to listen to the older generation........ then laughed and did the opposite.

I think its time for my cocoa and slippers now, must be nap time. This Thorazine is wonderfull stuff.

I think Dai is more addicted to the smell of cordite and spent fumes then the droogs! Next, he'll be wanting to lob howitzer rounds around "just for fun" Ahh poopies, missed the Thursday night ride 'cause me lights aren't working

No bigger high than breathing in the wonderful aroma of burnt sulphur.

Confirmed "Darksider". The roar, the thunder and the flame, followed by that wonderful white cloud.

Cordite hasnt been used for a very long time.

I havent lob'd a howitzer in years. Could you be arrested for that nowadays?

"Yes officer it was me who lobbed one. I definitely had a lob on."

Got pulled the other night on the M/way. Undertaking, not indicating, going a little fast. Spent a pleasant 1/2 hour talking to a very nice gentleman who advised me of the errors of my way and then proceeded to swap tales of bikes and biking days. I consider myself told off and am most contrite. What really supprised me was the number of cages that slowed down to have a sneakie at what was going on.

Needless to say I will be availing myself of his advice, until the next lapse of concentration or the next f#@king 4x4 plays silly buggers with me.

Just a question here for those of you who actually drive those 4 wheeled monstrocities. Do they teach you how to serpantine down the road? NZ's fuel bill could be cut by 1/4 if the average NZ driver learnt basic geometry, ie the quickest route between two points is a STRAIGHT line, not wandering from side to side between the two white lines that define a lane.

By Undertaking I presume you mean overtaking on the left (not embalming and conducting funerals!)

Odd. This is the only country in the world dumb enough for that to be legal - can I assume it was merely for want of indicating?

I think it is more called "filtering" here. The gap between cages was large, unforunately due to the average NZ cage driver proceeding in a sepentine manner in lane (whatever happened to "KEEP LEFT"), I crossed the white line and passed the car to my right while still in the same lane. A no-no. As to indicating or the lack of I put that down to bad habits picked up over the last few years on the Auckland motorway, Again the cage drivers seem to not indicate or to indicate once they have started their manouver in case they have cut someone off. Unfortunately in my haste to escape these drivers I copied their bad habits.

The speed whilst not exceeding the speed limit set on the highway was considered a little fast for the circumstances.

Yes I was let off with a stern warning. I thank the gentleman concerned for his tolerance and his obvious genuine concern ov er a member of the bike riding family. He was more worried that if a cage had of hit me I would have come off worse.

BTW this gentleman watches us here on KB and knows a few of us through the course of his employment and our topics of conversation.

Correct. This has been covered a lot on KB. You may pass on the right of a vehicle, in same lane, but NOT the left. $150 for passing on the left.

Lucky. All I have had is cops that say they ride.. well... one was a bike cop, so there could be truth in that They all pretty much went nuts at me, and threatened careless/dangerous charges (I began to think it was standard procedure to do that).
