    My time spent in Auckland

    AUCKLAND

    Day 6
Drove into town for a looksie, and to shout Rashika a birthday lunch at a wee Japanese place that her sister liked. Tried some INTERESTING food, nice jap beer and a wee bit of sake to wash it all down with. Not sure about the seaweed or the Coffee jelly stuff, but the rest was good, well it filled the hole anyway.
Headed back to BB's place so the girls could get all there gears together and head of to the HOG rally to do HOG shit.

Meanwhile Pataroa had sorted a Thursday night ride out with Dovers lot so AJ and myself headed of to rendezvous.
Meet my 1st dorklander KB mates (didnt seem so dog eared after all) cant remember everyones names but headed off to the Clevedon pub for a beer. Now... I thought that these guys were going to give me the learn? but as I expected they were all fulla shit, just like on line
1st up the fella on the 250 Across broke down, then Black Buell broke a belt, and... then old guy managed a punchure... now come on guys no need to fake an injury just to get out from being shamed by a old 1/4 tonne 83hp Guzzi.
So any way I pulled a wheelie and buggered off after IdylIdylIdyl which I soon came to realise his comment on line re: motard lines was the same tactics he uses on the road... by this I mean he takes what ever line he wants to get around a corner, ie: well over the center line... so fork this, blastered past to get to the pub 1st, and I had no idea were it was, I think I must have been following the scent off Boomers free Steinie.

    Day 7, Friday
Did bugger all really but heard that BuellBabe and Rashika were headed to Pukekohe with the HOG lot, for a stunt show and a spin around the track... so AJ and I raced down there but it was all over, and looking at the pic's the stunt show was cool as. Now if nothing else this gave me a chance to check out Puke all the same... meh, Ill stick with Ruapuna thanks.

    Day 8, Sat
It was thunder ride day for the Hoglets so I figgered Id meet the girls back at the venue for a poke around and then we were going for a ride north.
As I was early I figgered I'd check out what all the hoo ha was with these tasseled out freaks, so I walked over to the building entrance and asked nicely if I could have a look at the displays inside while I waited for the girls to retern from there thunder ride.
“NA” the old coote said at the door “go away you dont belong here”... “fuck ya then” I said “I will”

Now I figgered it was worth another try so I walked around the corner to the bike enterance and yet again there were two non whities playing God... I asked again

D- “as a keen motorcyclest is it ok if I wounder in and check things out while I wait for the missus to return from the ride”

God- “no you dont have a Harley the Auckland chapter says you must leave MATE”

D- “All I want to do is check the bikes and displays out while I wait for the missus MATE”

God- “you beter go MATE or we will remove you BRO”

D- “dont call me mate or bro again BRO or you wont have the chance to remove me... all I want to do is see the missus and enjoy the bikes”

God- “fuck off now CUZ you aint comming in”

D- “what a bunch of fucking ignarant c@#ts you lot are”

God- “no cuz... c#$ts are usefull”

D- “my c@#t aint usefull CUZ cos shes been on the other side of the fucking fence all week, no good to me at all... fuck ya's then”
and I walked off heading for thre BOG pub to wait for the girls.

This did leave me feeling rather pissed off as a bikes a bike is it not? its what we enjoy so much.
At the pub I parked the Guzzi up to have a tassel bound freak shout “thats the wrong flavour mate” fuck me what next I replyed “they all tast the same to me shit head”

Anyway the girls finley showed up with there cromed up mates and we headed off to the Puhoi pub north of Auckland and all jack arses on Hogs.

Wow what a cool bikers spot all kinds of bikes and everyone mingling just fine, a burger and beer and I was feeling a bit happier with life again.
On the way back from the Puhoi it stsrted pissing down, so the girls asked if I could pick up ther tent and shit, leave them on site and later on pick them up as Rashika and I had an early start in the morning.

So drove BB's cage to the Hog venue and the girls some how managed to smugle me past God and his mates.
SWEET I was in so I had my poke around (buggered if I could work out what was so secret about all these look a like bikes) and helped the girls out with there shit, and headed home.

Later that night the phone goes “we are ready now come and get us” so the Ginga cab headed back down there. As I aproached the gate a hoglet was trying to get out but the God crew wouldnt let him through... while they were bitching I skiped around behind them and meet Rashika, so fuck it... beer and band time, ohh yeah and I was wearing my Honda riders Tshirt too, managed a few odd looks... but I didnt give a shit they could through my sorry arse out if they wanted.

well an hour or so later and we really needed to get going but Buellbabe was struting her stuff on the dance floor with all them long haired tassle clad patch wearing potato riders... never mind beter not leave her there so I butted in and we naffed off.

day 9 & 10, the ride home tomorow night

    1) The you know what
    2) the view from the you know what
    3) show off
    4) look no hands (funny how a bunch of HOG riders dont mind watching a Honda doing shit)

    the return trip

    Day 9, Auckland-Foxton
Gave BB a hug goodbye (thanks for putting us up... or putting up with us, er me) and shot down to the autobarn BP joint to gas up... but HELLS BELLS what ya know there was a bunch a KBer's meeting up for the helicopter run.
Meet a few names which became faces including the big boss man himself, and watched them head off.
Now this was to be a big day for Rashika and myself. We headed out down 22, well why not I had heard so much about it, some saying it was awesome others saying it was a goat track.
Goat track it well may have been but what a lovely ride and scenery, hell we weren't on rice rockets that need a mint surface to stay up right on so our bikes just loved it as we did.
Popped out at Ngaruawahia then ducked back in onto 39 to Pirongia and Otorohanga, then it was 3 too Te Kuiti and Eight mile junction, were we jumped over to 4 to Taumaruni. Now it was great to take these off the beaten tracks as the lack of traffic and freedom is what motorcycling is all about, I just loved it.

From Raetihi to Wanganui on 4 was slow going, but what a frecking awesome country side... beautiful yet so ruged, this section was one of my favourites on this trip.
It was good to see Wanger's tho as my arse cant take a lot more of the saddle, I think I was starting to get bed sores on my rump.
A quick blast around the cemetary circuit and a refuel left us with the last section of road for the day and the only time we rode h/w 1 down to AJ's at Foxton... man I slept well that night.

    Day 10, Foxton-Chch
Up early and on our way we headed straight down 1 to welly were we wheelied onto the ferry with 12 other bikes and had yet another nice boat ride to picton.
The ride from the ferry to Chch was nice and relaxing but the site of the Port hills was a good thing after the first real rain we had the whole trip...from Kaikoura to Amberley...pretty good going I reckon.
We rocked up at the gate to a wellcoming party of 1 staffie and 2 Burmese flee bags, un packed and carked out for the evening.

Well thats it, now all I have to show for the trip is a sad visa, and a fadding memory... but I tell ya what, I'd do it again in a flash.

    1) choper run meet up
    2) waiting for the big boat
    3) hog central
    4) ugley as, but well done
    5) choper run meet up

Nice to meet you guys properly plus all the other people I met that day.

My turn to head South I reckon and not just Christchurch South.

Great read D... jeez I must admit I wasn't quite sure what to expect of you after some of the blistering PMs I have sent your way LOL! You sure know how to rattle my cage!
Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised! And my dogs have definately given you their seal of approval... wish I had got a photo of you squeezed between the 2 of them on the bed!
And now I am just gonna add my 2c to the report.

Remember right back near the beginning of the report something about a near miss with a parked 4x4 and a truck???
Well that happened AFTER AJ, Mudboy and myself had met up with them.
And the bikes likely to be taken out were Rashika and myself... highest praise to the truck driver, things could have been sooooooo different!

Well since D has covered the actual journey I am gonna comment on the riding itself.
Firstly I have to admit that I have always considered Moto Guzzis to be a bike with cred but unfortunately BUTT UGLY, well having seen Ds beasty I have revised that opinion and have to say that I think yr bike is F-I-N-E! Can't believe I passed up the opportunity to take it for a blat!

Really enjoyed riding behind the Guzzi(we put D out in front most of the way cos he had the radar detector), its always a pleasure to ride with a skilled rider. And that applies to Rashika as well! She and I have ridden together off and on over the years but this was the first time on similar bikes ( both Buells ) and altho they are different models we quickly realised that we ride them exactly the same way as AJ can testify cos he was tail-end-charlie and consequently got a earful of the 2 "tractors" roaring out of the corners!

At 1 point I was behind Rashika and I could tell from her body language that she was about to give it death so I thought to myself "well this is gonna be a test for the old girl, has she got what it takes?" er...yes! no problemo...that top-end rebuild was worth it!

As for AJ, well he cracks me up cos he reckons he wobbles around corners but when we were riding together before meeting up with D&R he was setting a great pace over the Paras on the way to Wanganui!

And speaking of wobbling... ha ha my shock had developed a wee leak just the week before the trip... by the time we left Taupo to head to Whangamata it was pretty rooted and the bike was pogo-ing around some of those corners on the hill between Waihi and Whangamata!
He he he all good fun eh?

Had a blast (HOG Rally was primo too!) and looking forward to doing it all over again in the Sth Is in a couple of weeks!

Hey Dangerous, that was one perspective, here's another

Dangerous in white, my comments in red:

Meet my 1st dorklander KB mates (didnt seem so dog eared after all) cant remember everyones names but headed off to the Clevedon pub for a beer. Now... I thought that these guys were going to give me the learn? but as I expected they were all fulla shit, just like on line
Good to see a wink attached with that one 'cause you weren't outspoken at all and said nothing in person that anyone could take exception to.
Since I didn't recall having any clashes with you prior to meeting you, I for one had no particular axe to bear. I do recall being outspoken about a certain moderator you professed to know very well, I didn't hold back.

Given that you were so restrained does that make you 'full of shit' too?

Did you expect us to take the piss just because you're from the Sth Island? Fuck, I'M from the Sth Island and I'd wager half of the others were from outside Auckland too.

1st up the fella on the 250 Across broke down, then Black Buell broke a belt, and... then old guy managed a punchure... now come on guys no need to fake an injury just to get out from being shamed by a old 1/4 tonne 83hp Guzzi.
old? it was hardly 'old' and it wasn't like it was a cruiser either.

The only time I actually went what I'd call hard on the ride was before we hit the Hunua Gorge when I overtook oldguy. The sun was in my eyes too dangerous. When I stopped on the other side I waited a good couple of minutes for the others to arrive; a decent length of time considering the Hunua gorge is not a long ride through.

So any way I pulled a wheelie and buggered off after IdylIdylIdyl which I soon came to realise his comment on line re: motard lines was the same tactics he uses on the road... by this I mean he takes what ever line he wants to get around a corner, ie: well over the center line
indeed, i had followed oldguy all day and as i've often said, i take whatever line i want: 250 lines quite often as per that day.
    centre line? so what?
you follow like i do, up close and in yer face. did my lines upset you?, I wasn't trying hard at that point.

... so fork this, blastered past to get to the pub 1st, and I had no idea were it was, I think I must have been following the scent off Boomers free Steinie.
yep, dangerous 'blasted past me' just before we reached the 50kph area at Clevedon and when I was riding slow after the oldguy puncture stop. It had been decided to forget anymore sidetracking and head straight to the pub; the hard riding was already all over.

a nice tale dangerous, self promotion is fun eh!?

They only up set me when you crossed the center line for the reasons above, yes I often folow too bloody close, but I make sure the bike in front is compfortable with me being there.

It was farking good to catch up, and meet AJ too.

Glad I managed to catch Rashika on Sunday morning before you headed home. You should have done the Helicopter ride, its a unique experience, I was towards the back and heading up the m'way all I could see in both directions was bikes, bikes and more bikes.

Hey Rashika ...more write up and pics now please.
