    Bye bye 70kph speed limit!

    Sorry fellas, so far, only for me.
    Passed my restricted at Mt. Wellington LTNZ this morning.
    I got a bit of a scare when during the
    safety inspection the turn signals didn't work (turns out I had a
    kill switch on). The test itself was a joke - 20 minutes of riding on deserted
    residential streets. Personally I think that the person failing a restricted test
    of this complexity is so hopeless s/he must be banned from driving.
    So here is my $0.02:
    * Don't run red lights
    * Don't run stop signs.
    * Don't fall off your bike
    * Don't ride on the wrong side of the road
    and you will pass.

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

    LOL Nasty, you're living up to your username. Total waste of bloody time! And aren't they no good for shortening your time on your restricted motorbike licence now?

    Congrats Street Gerbil, just one more step to go.

    Congrats on passing . Hubby and I did ours last Weds and I had great joy in snapping off the L plate

    Basically to pass you just have to follow all the road rules, and not fall off, and will pass no problem. But also make sure you don't lose the tester, and if you do, stop and wait, or go to the rendezvous point.

    I believe you can still shorten your restricted time by doing a defensive or streetwise course. That's what I got told just the other day. Sounds a bit tedious though, four two-hour sessions and then a driving session? Sounds expensive too since there is two of us. I phoned the local AA to find out who runs them in Kapiti and they didn't know...??!

    You forgot don't speed....

    I've been trying to practise keeping my speed low...really find it tricky.
    by the time I've changed to 4th and checked my speed after taking off, I'm always going to fast (and quite frankly I'd be happy going just a smidge faster still)
