You won't be saying that in 25 years. Look, a degree or diploma won't do you any harm and even if it's just a piece of paper, most of the people that will interview you have similar pieces of paper and like this shit. It's shows that you have the ability and commitment to learn.

If you went to school in NZ chances are you came out dummer than when you went in. At least our Universities are based on some backward world standard and heck, some countries even recognise NZ Uni degrees. You get one crack at this son, don't fuck it up for the sake of 2 years and the chance to ride a shiny new bike. Those times will come and they will be less stressful.

Most of the sucessful,and unsucessful people I know...used to be something else.But that something else gave them the spring board to do something they like and do better.I'm just a mechanic....but so was Mike Pero,however I still enjoy being a mechanic,I would hate to be a mortgage broker....even a sucessful one.I know a guy who has been trapping for over 35 years,he's one of the few who have made a lifetime career out of it.....but he is way off the sucess path of an engineer in a suit....however I doubt he has ever worn a suit,or would ever want to.

The other thing is, uni cost a shitload and is boring as hell. And The job aint going to stick around for a few years....

Take it from somebody who 'never quite got aound to getting a qualification' and ended up out of a job in his early 40's without any qualifications - the world looks pretty damn nasty right about then!!

Sure, I got through it but in hindsight (We all have 20-20 hindsight, regardless of qualifications!) I would have had a lot less stress and got a job quicker if I had a degree.

Yes, our eldest son has two degrees and his spelling is sh1t too. Yep RM, finish your diploma to prove you can stick at something and it might open other doors too. You might not be so much of a jerk at the end of it either .
