My KR-1S is quite good at overtaking coza the sudden burst of power. It can't *really* go faster than 160kph I've found so that's my max overtaking speed. I'm getting a little worried about taking it back in forth between Wellington and Hawkes Bay tho... Time for a bigger bike I think.

Never mind the 1L jobs, me and a mate used to do it on our 150cc's while heading into tga. I hear that place is full of old people now - noticed all the roads from tga to kati are all 80kph.
Thats bullshit - we used to average about 150 every friday night. Ah what it was to be young and own a two stroke

What the hell? How come a 150 can do 150kph and by 250 2-stroke can hardly manage 170?

Thats it! I'm buying a thou just to be safe.

problem with overtaking so many cars in one hit at speed, is ya need a lot of straight road to do it.. And if they're all going slow cos of something in front, and it's a nice long straight road, could be someone in a cage wants a go too, and stormin up the outside of them at pace, might not go down to well!
not that it ain't obvious, but still.. that's what gets me

I'm fortunate that I don't need much room but as your other point shows it can be bloody dangerous therefore it becomes a calculated risk.
Ride like people are trying to kill you and things generally work out...usually. Ride FAST in inappropriate places,well...

Re 150kmph....well ummmm, about to change into 2nd not that I am admitting doing such things on the rd....no never!

Iv found myself doing more than 150 on my 150cc, you don't need a 1000 to do it. Very rarely, and the throttle normally comes off pretty quick when I realise.

I prefer to pick em off one by one.

But if I do a line (no...not that kind of line... ) its usually 15 -20k faster than the traffic... That way they see me comming and I have enough premium to get to the next gasso.

as others have mentioned I have done that on my rg150, but what I tend to do if i'm overtaking a long line of cars is to switch the lights to highbeam, you don't blind anyone cause you next to them but it is easier to be noticed. I got a shock when I was riding the zxr down from auckland to palmy on the second day i had the bike and i had only ridden it the day before for about 10minutes. When i overtook a whole bunch of cars then looked at my speedo ... man was i doing well over the speed limit had to watch that the whole way down to palmy, if I had a litre bike .........

I've been in a couple of situations where cars and bikes have started to pull out while I'm overtaking them.

I'm sure that they check their mirrors before they pull out. But if you're going too fast then they'll never see you coming up behind them.

    Be careful out there.
