But unfortunatly i'm gonna have to say it... Take your mirrors off or stop using them. If you want to see whats behind you then pull back into the lane, if there is a splitter behind ya and they are faster they will pass then.

Oh and no mirrors lets ya split faster

when im splitting i move my mirrors further outwards so i can see if i have room behind me to jump into the line of traffic either side.

althouth I did think of you Tide this morning when I just about go squashed between a bus full of school girls and a rather large truck with lots of 'pointy bit' sticking out everywhere... *both mirrors touched* was a minty moment.
