Bluebridge ferry & securing motorbikes

Howdy folks

A group of us are taking our bikes on the Bluebridge ferry in a couple of weeks - can any of you can give me a heads up on the current situation with securing bikes on board, as in what are they currently providing in the way of tie downs etc?

Am planning on taking two of my own for the front, and maybe using what they provide to secure the rear wheel, depending on what they provide.

Bluebridge customer service were no help at all – “I would suggest to bring your own tie-downs as we do have a couple but not many” (me thinks the girl is slightly clueless...)

From my understanding - take your own tiedowns .. do not expect what is there to be useful - or appropriate for motorbikes.

When I went on the insterislander they had thin ropes covered in cow poo, can't imagine that bluebridge will be any different

Do Not assume they will have anything,they tie down cars & trucks with chains!!

One of our own KBers is crew, I think on Blubridge. Didn't he say last week that they now have really good tie-downs for bikes?

BTW ... how much is the Bike&Body fare?

I'm going on BlueBrige tomorrow morning and I've brought my own tie downs. They're nice ones with rubber covered hooks and ratchet tighteners. No pathetic attempts at tying knots for me.

It cost me $100 and I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

I work on bluebridge (santa regina) and often have my bike on board for two weeks at a time tie down points are good and for bikes only if you bring your own tie downs thats good but the deck crew will assist if need be and there are rope lashings if needed and alot of the crew with bluebridge are bikers also so they understand and you will be parked away from the poop any more questions pm me happy too help

Its the same as the Interislander but the ropes ar newer with no cow poo. I used the ropes but I can tie knots fairly well.

I'll be on both the Interislander and the BlueBridge in the next two weeks or so.
I'm taking my own tie downs and a borrowed pair. One pair is fine on a smooth trip, but if it isn't smooth better to have the option....

$99 each way - all fares the same price - no cheaper deals for early bookings.

Interislander is cheaper if you can book on the website far enough in advance to get the cheapie fares, otherwise it's dearer.
