I'm 6"1 and ride an NSR, it's fine.

If I packed on another 15 kg and it was running on one cylinder I could still lose my licence.

Only problem would be the weight. I ride a KRR, pretty much the same as the RG and I'm 6'2" 75kg. Bloody uncomfortable on long motorway trips but fine for everything else.

I've clocked 180kph on my wife's RG150 and I'm about your size - I used to be a racing cyclist so the tucked up position suits me fine - I have more trouble with my VTR250 and it's happy shopper approach to riding position.

RG150 - no problem with comfort - no problem with power. But don't take my word for it - I'm only your size, your weight and ride one of these little beasties for fun.

    Try it first. S'only way.

I'm 5'10" and 100ks. RG was sweet - its not that little in terms of seat height etc. comp to many sports bikes. I bought mine off a guy who was 6'2" and had no troubles.
CBR250 is the same seat height.

I still say the RG is the beginners total bargain - you get 250 sports bike performance for peanuts.

Have a kr150f which I assume is identical to a rg150. Although it's light and nimble I find that the seating position isn't overly comfortable. I tend to sit a little too far forward due to the seat design to be able to support my weight with my knees.

the rg is a more upright seated position.

I don't know how I didn't notice when purchasing the thing that when seated my knees tend to hug the side fairing mounting points... cordura pants don't help with sitting back enough in the seat hence the resulting propping of the bodyweight against the handles.

    /End rant.

Have to say, for a first bike the 150cc 2t is awesome in terms of power delivery, price and maintenance (rebuilds are a cake). I couldn't justify spending 3+ grand on a 250cc and instead split the budget 50/50 for gear and bike.

Yeah i recently got an RGV 150 (the poor mans RG) and i have to say im having a ball of a time learning on it. Took it out to Whitford with a mate on the weekend who has a ZXR and he was quite impressed!

The bikes hitting 24,000k's. Should i be getting new rings/piston for it?

    Hey champ!

Shes good! Enjoying my intro in2 the world of m'bikes.

Got a rear grab bar and a bulb from Pyrocam for $10.

Just trying to track down the small drips of oil. Any idea where it would be coming from?

    Hows your partners new bike?

It depends on how one defines 'struggle'. My 90kg +gear + petrol struggles to get to 140 on an FXR, but I did enjoy learning to ride on it.

The RG150 doesn't really sound like the right kinda bike for 100kg, but I imagine that there's a budget involved. If not, either a new GT250R or 2nd ZXR250/CBR250RR would be the ducks nuts

    rg

Firstly an RG150 put out 28HP not 35 in standard trim. I used to race one in the 150 streetstock class at 6'1 and 100kgs.....yes I was a little too big for it at race pace (which is definitely not 210kph!!!!!) about 150 tops is what you can expect.

Having said that it was a great little bike and one hell of a lot of fun to ride.....go for it!!!!!!
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead
Do not walk ahead as I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow
In fact FU*K off and leave me alone

I'm 80kg and my RG150 with a fresh rebuild and new p/valves hit an indicated 170km/hr before i slowed up and I still had about 1k rpm to redline. That said the speedos are so far out it's not funny - sure feels like you're moving though. Also nearly 6ft, not quite sure but it's not cramped at all riding around town - i've even been to the westcoast on it (that hurt like a bugger after a while though).

Blown past my friends vtr250 on it (i swear those vtr's are limited to 140/150?)

Oh and for the Jaredr i've got an RG150 in chch (my profile pic above^ ) , which i'm wanting to sell in the next month or so. I'll give you a test ride if you want to know if an RG's for you or not, for $2k you can have it.

I've let my brother ride it, and he's 120kg, looked a bit comical but it still pulled just fine. I've even had him AND me on the thing round the block once -rear shock was bottomed out and it didnt move very well until you hit the power band but it still went ok lol. Just got crushed whenever i slowed/stopped

I've actually got my gixxer 750 in storage at the moment and after getting back on the RG I forgot how many laughs you can get wringing one of them out, and how nimble a 130kg bike feels compared to a 180kg one! Awesome little machines.

check the overflow hoses, did that when it got flooded and such. Gearbox never leaked so wont be that...and there isn't oil anywhere else in the ol' 2 stroke.

The CBR250R is going well aye, took it for a ride last night (was missing riding a bike) and was having a blast on it...bringing back old memories of when I started riding...so light and nimble!! Even managed a wheelie on it, which surprised me (mind you, even your RGV150 wheelied (2nd gear)...did it once to prove a point to a mate that anything will, just needed to use the bounce method...don't worry...only did it once as the misses would have killed me if I'd done any more!!).

    whoops...back on topic
