Re the finance issue (which is a moot point as your parents won't support your application (and yes 17yr olds can get finance with mum and dad)), I can't understand how some here are saying that finance companies will screw you and the bank won't. It's all fecking numbers, doesn't matter whether it's your grandma, the bank, or Tony Soprano suppying them. In fact we have provided finance to bank employees before as our rate was better than what they can get at the bank! You just need to be smart and read everything before you sign it. No one ever gets ripped off by a finance company, they rip themselves off. No one held a gun to their head (ok, maybe Tony Soprano excepted) to sign the documents, so you've only your own greed to blame, but ah fuck it, so much easier to blame someone else. And as far as paying back twice the amount? Only if you're paying excessive interest (remember, read before you sign) and go the full term. No finance company we use (1st and 2nd tier lenders) charge the full amount of interest if you pay out early, at the most they will charge a S120 early payout fee.

And no I don't work for or represent any finance company, I just use their services every day.

I like the 400's, they sound awesome and they look great stock and the TYGA kits look good too. I've yet to ride one though. I started this thread whilst I was still on a massive hit of adreniline that I hadn't experienced before and it felt really really good and that's what made me want a 600 at all costs. However I've calmed down now. I'll give a 400 a try though, but I did like the ZX6R cause it had more power than the Hyosung, a 400 will be quick but I've been yearning for more horsepower

All work will be done by myself, unless i don't have the tools and can't afford to get them or I buggered thibgs up trying to fix it and have to take it to the shop

That's what I thought, I knew I'd be paying upwards of several grand extra but in some cases that'd be worth paying to get it sooner. And I know there's depreciation but I had hoped I'd get a bike big and new enough that it didn't need replacing in 1-3 years

i mean look at me, i'm only a year older than you - i left school last year instead of doing 7th form and here i am now owning a new bike that I can easily afford but dont have my license yet

edit: seriously, its there if you want it - just go get it and stop wasting time!
    I'm Daniel you manus

I'm sticking to school mainly for my parents, and kinda just in case my plans change and I did need those level 3 credits in one subject. Better safe than sorry

I've got enough money to save up for a bike. It's not like I'm paying rent and bills at the moment, and when I do I'll probably have that part time job that can pay for everything

Fair enough, nothing wrong with sticking to school but i've asked my mates what 7th form gave them and they say "nothing" then i tell em how much i earned - the look on their face is priceless

I dont pay rent. bills (mainly internet) and food i pay for though

at least if you save you will be able to afford a 400 and most importantly be able to afford to run it, i went from a 150 to a nc30 and it was a good step still get faster everytime i go out, pushing the bike to its limits. its good fun, 400s are often under estimated, especially fast with good tyres (just like any bike) but people tend to not bother putting decent tyres on them because they are just a cheap bike. get a 400 give it a carb balance fresh plugs and tyres and youll be away laughing and still be able to put gas in the thing.
    cheers good luck anyway dude.

    Lolol

Yeah, I kinda expect it be nothing. And I'm only planning to go to Weltec (and get the skills to start up a custom bike shop [at least that's my dream]). I got quite pissed off at my physics teacher basically saying Weltec is for people who fail school, I was enjoying the subject untill then. Anyway, I'll stick to it and luckily the jobs haven't tired me out yet. In fact they give me something to do

I'll try find one at a dealers to test ride and see whether I'm convinced. Untill then a 2004 GSXR600 is my goal by the end of the year

I like the look of the ZXR750, like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=92421739

What are the cons with them? What's likely to go wrong that I'd have to fix, etc? I've yet to test ride one and when I do I might find it looks cool but it's a pig (but they seem to have some cult status so they must be pretty alright). I've yet to convince my parents about helping me get a bank loan, but they have been impressed by how hard I've been working to try and save up (but the RG tends to suck that money away so I'm still at nothing) and I'm looking at getting a better and higher paying job after my after school job (giving me the weekends free once i quit countdown)

Quit Countdown. I worked at one when I was your age. Worked hard, low pay.

I suppose it made me the man I am today.

if that happens, and you have taken out payment protection (almost all banks/finance companys will do it, and its added to the loan your paying off) they will pay all your payments until you can go back to work, you don't have to pay them back... so if you manage to paralyze yourself... you just got yourself a free bike...

A ZXR400 H2 will piddle on the earlier ZXR750's... the later ZX-7R's on the other hand are quite nice machines

Well I've learnt a lot from it too. Never work for a multinational corporation. They work you to an inch of your life, the very vague when you ask about the union (which was actually quite a laugh e.g Manager:"(long pause).. ahh.... yeah the union rep is in Auckland.... you'll have to go see her if she has any forms... you'd be the only one in the union at this store (rich person laugh)) and the conditions are at the bare minimum of what the government will allow (minimum wage and unpaid breaks)

The other job is working for K9 security, checking places like schools to see if they're locked up. My parents aren't too keen on me working for them saying that's dangerous

My parents even want me to quit saying it's shit. I'd love to but I'm whipped by the desire to get a big bike

I'll be securing another job before I quit
