I was thinking of setting up a bank account so people can deposit whatever they want toward the seat, or if anyone tries to give me cash I can pop it in there.
Would anyone be willing to be a co-signer for this account? (So nobody worries about me getting strapped for cash and using the money on more bike-bling). Would like to set this account up fairly soon so we can get the ball rolling.
Good one! If you pm me your postal address, I'll get a cheque away to you!

Regarding one for LB......I've got that underway, just waiting to hear from his parents.

Do they not include a brass plaque already?
The one we had made for a lost friend that's on Mt Vic has...it was all included in the price....I know the one for LB will have...maybe it's different than WCC.....

Stonemasons might be the go, Glover Memorials near the Taita Cemetary come to mind. Less chance of a stone plaque being stolen, just ask Finn about his mum's bronze plaque, nothing is sacred so it seems.

The lady quoted me $500 for the seat alone and said the plaque and engraving of would be an extra cost, but she mentioned that maybe carving a message in the back rest of the seat would be a better idea than a plaque considering the amount of thieving bastards nicking off with them (my words, not hers!). So we can choose, but I would be devastated if some arse pinched the plaque! (Especially where we're thinking of sticking the seat!)

That's a good option too!! Keep the ideas coming!! (I need as much help as I can get, but most of you knew that already! )

There's also a Gym in naenae that has had a series of stone carvings done for it's fence. Boxing themed stone carvings, done by some artiste type in I think Oamaru Stone?

I'd suggest visiting the stonemasons first to get an idea of price etc.
