Kinda in agreement. To enforce this 'law', the board gods would first have to examine their own prejudices and act equally with resoect to all personal attacks. My experience here as a newbie suggests that they don't act equally, they allow their mates to get away with personal attacks. Hell, I was attacked by three of the minor demigods here and as far as I can tell, they got away with it scott free.
So, in the absence of magnanimous equality from theboard moderators, only an everthing goes policy can be truly fair to all.
BTW, NZ WAS a socialist nation 1930's) but has moved to the right since the 1970's. It was never communist and is nowhere near communist now.

    Nope
Your supposition depends on belief in the northern hemisphere's orientation of the world map: they're wrong and draw the map upside down.

We should be so lucky, but sadly NZ is far far from communism. It'd be nice, but it's just a dream. We are closer to the Libertarianz vision of legalised corporate slavery than communism.

Sadly you're right. We've been moving right for decades an although we are nowhere near as fascist as the yanks, we're on our way.
If National had won the last elections we'd have been on the fast track (the lies they told were outrageous and were a copy of Bush's tactics). We wouhave ended up with a party prepared to sell NZ's economy to multinationals.

For those really interested in politics, comparisons between countries and change over time, check out this page: http://www.politicalcompass.org/nz2005
from there you can take an online test to determine where your personal politics lie in relation to the political parties.

but back to the thread: i'm waiting for one of the board gods to reply to my post.
I reckon their duty should be to protect newbies from the personal atacks here in particular. Someone told me (one of the board lords) that I had to establish credibility here before I could post advice etc.
Frankly that was laughable. Motorcycle riding/racing credibility does not come from internet chat, it comes from reality. I have no respect for those who blow hot on the internet but who are poor riders or just plain ordinary in reality.
Freddie Merkel lives in NZ. If he, or say Aaron Slight, were to come here and start posting advice under a nom de plume, they'd be attacked constantly by losers demanding they prove their experience or others demanding they shut the fuck up.
As I've said before, fragile egos seem to rule here and the board lords don't police it at all well.

The "Board Lords" are doing their best. They're not perfect. And if fragile egos can't deal with that, than tough. Throw some red rep around.

That's fair enough spankme but IMO the set up of the forum actually encourages abuse.

things like not allowing people to see who is sending them red reps and abusive comments only makes it easier for the abusers to get away with it and I've definitely noticed that some moderators have a leaning toward taking the side of incumbents against newcomers when it would be far more sensible for the balance to be quite the opposite.
From what I've seen, some moderators respond only to those complained against and don't go back to see who STARTED the abuse and its escalation. If there is to be punishment, surely the INITIATOR of abuse or inflammation is the one who should be MOST punished?

Unless 'justice' is SEEN to be done, it will not be accepted as BEING done so the constant streams of abuse and inflammatory posts by incumbents that LEAD to escalation MUST be quashed in public. Not to do so only leads people to think "If that long termer can get away with it, why shouldn't I?"

I notice that I can now see who is sending me reps. That's nice but unless that privelage is given immediately to all, it is just an excuse and opportunity for anonymous abuse.

Well i've been in this forum about 3 or 4 years and recently
have had a stream of abuse by way of red reps from others. Its getting
really boring getting red repped for the same old thing.....yawn

I am getting red repped cos I stepped up and made some comments in the "sickest jokes thread"about what I believe to be jokes that have seriously crossed boundaries.

It appears i'm the minority in my thinking that its not ok to joke about
these things that were being joked about. So I have opned myself right up
to some abuse. Scary when you think about it - no one else in that thread
seems to have a problem with the boundary crossing jokes.

Nothing was said to abuse you Katwyn (at least none that I saw), but it was your own fault for not reading the first post where it was clearly said that you shouldnt read further if you are easily offended

    Red Rep

    Katwyn

Good point .. I get red rep from some idiot who goes out of his way to break the law .. when I say he is temping death .... hey say dead enough time and he reps me ... I even say something like welcome to the 100 k speed limit and get red reped ... dead is represented by brain death .. and I don't know if he got one ... I just figure him for an arsehole ... and ignore it now.

But in some threads im just straight out.....'a prick'......but those who know me, know that what i say does not come with to much venom, hell i dont even operate an ignore list....im not that uptight....its just knowing when to and what to post in some case's and that can be hard sometimes if you are uptight and dont know when to move on....
