And Jim faced resistance as well,Where is the difference between his numerous emails and phone calls and yours??
Because I was legally entitled to the information I was requesting, and I did not harrass or attack any individual in doing so, nor did I repeatedly threaten any MNZ members. Is that clear enough for yo Billy?
As you are well aware,Jim is only one member of a 5 person board,How does it become a breach specific too him?????
Is he not the President of MNZ? Is he not charged with steering MNZ in the correct direction? Does he not chair the Board? Does he not have a vote at Board level? Does he not have a casting vote too? He is more responsible than the Board, as some of the questions I asked were related to Jim!
Well how did that happen???
The point of spending money on a website is to convey information that is relative to and for the benefit of the entity(Commercial or organisation) that commissions the website. The MNZ News is replicated and readily available for those who want it and for that matter an abundance of M/Cycle sport internet news available.
As Scott alluded – MNZ needs to think about what the Website can do for its financial backers. The MNZ membership. They don't need to be entertained - they need to be 'informed'.[/QUOTE]
Yes absolutely agree,I have mentioned too the current admin that the information regarding clubs and officials needs to be condensed so its easier to access,BUT how many members actually bother to even look??Most just seem intent on getting on the internet and rubbishing MNZ when they dont get a reply too an email,Maybe if the site was better arranged and members actually bothered to try and find the information things would work more smoothly,Not suggesting in anyway that MNZ arent in some way at fault,But communication is a 2 way street.

Are there 2 Chris Lawrence's,Cause the one Ive questioned doesnt reply,Here,On facebook or directly too my email address,Is this responsible and appropriate communication with clubs and riders??Especially somebody who has put the effort I have into the Junior scene using none of the MNZ money or rescources!!
As you say, theres over 5000 members & your boots are barely showing out of Jims arse.
Id suggest hes not wasting his time on you, prefering to concentrate on the 4999 that are worth the trouble.

because rightly or wrongly he is the only one up for election this time, so that is the main reason he is in the gun over this,
also he is the Chair of the board, and most information seems to come signed by him on behalf of the board, (incl the board report that came out today) so it seems right to go to the top,

And any good business person will delegate items to competent persons.
Why then have the Board not delegated the website responsibility to say 'thechow' who's already said he'd do it with bi-monthly newsletters too. (Chris's thoughts on the website communication).
Oh, Jim said it would be too expensive.............
Even though it would help alleviate most of MNZ's perceived issues with their members.
Sounds like they DON'T want to do it.
Am I correct?

Sorry Scott,
Firstly Jims not the only one up for election,Yes hes the chair of the board but he still only has 1 vote on a 5 member board,So your suggesting because the information is signed by him,It must solely be his decision?Sounds like the old shooting the messenger too me!

Yes a bi monthly newsletter would help alleviate the situation,But by no means is it the silverbullet that will fix all the communication problems evident,As Ive stated before communication is a 2 way street and until all the members start utilising the information available too them things wont improve.
As Ive stated on Marcus's facebook page,There needs to be better communication between the clubs and MNZ and likwise the members and their local clubs,Until this happens things will stay as they are.I also wonder whether the chow has considered the enormity of the job regarding a bi monthly newsletter to 5500 members covering seven disciplines???

Not very difficult, you have four or five people from each discipline providing news to your e mail address. You proof read it & sort it & compile it into some kind of newsletter format & press send on your e mail.
In this day & age you dont need to send a man on an Ass to 5000 households.

Na,Piece of piss,These four or five people from the seven disciplines,Im picking they probably arent gonna be part of the general membership that cant even be bothered accessing the information available currently on the website,Or for the best part dont bother voting either??
You realise too of course thats another 28-35 volunteers to add to the huge number that already supply their time free of charge,Even though you stated earlier you had a problem with my statement that MNZ is largely run by volunteers,How long do you reckon it would be before they tired of the job and Ian had too start chasing them up?Thats assuming there are another 28-35 people willing to do the job in the first place.Yip easy peasy.

Isn't it great Paul that if you pay a consultant a truck load of money (you know our members money), that they will tell you exactly what you want to hear! That is how it goes Paul, isn't it?!
Dis-established? You mean fired?! A personal vendeta against Pav by Jim. Oh - you could call it a hidden agenda if you like.
Isn't it funny how information got around the day after conference that Jim got elected, that Paul's job was going to go -and by Jim none the less!! This was in fact WAY WAY WAY before you had your consultants in Paul!
Not only that, why don't you go back into your Board minutes, and see exactly what Jim did to Pav, and how he attacked Pav right from as soon as he walked into the MNZ office.
About the other dis-established position.... you mean the one that had to be re-established on a higher pay rate, costing us MNZ members even more money?????
Now Mr Searancke, you can call me a liar if you want to, but, I can go into more detail if you like?
Because other members on here haven't seen the minutes, I'm more than keen to list any lies you say I'm stating.

What???? Mate I'm not going to publish anything if no one sends anything , so that problem is solved. I won't be chasing anyone up. That will be for MNZ to provide the info not me.
It is not going to be the bible for godsake, it only requires info about what MNZ are up to not news about racing as such.

I get bloody sick of the only volunteers argument , mate it doesn't matter if they get paid or not , people who put there name up for a job should at least see it out and not pass the buck when a bit of shit gets thrown.
I have wanted to walk from the sport many times , but something keeps me here , and I think it might just be the people that keep me coming back. So to recap,
A) It was a lie then,Disestablishment of a position culminating in a redundancy package is not a dismissal that lead too a pay out cause it was badly handled.
B)The disestablishment of both postions cost the membership money to begin with,But in the long run the outcome was a $200,000.00 surplus,Mmmm,What was Jim thinking???
If Jims only agenda when running for MNZ president was to get rid of Paul Pavletich then why has he been doing all the other work hes accomplished in the last 2 years,
Mmmm,I smell a rat here if Jims being doing more than he intended,Again,What was he thinking???

Well actually Billy it is bloody easy these days and cheap to boot. All that is required is the info , but I won't hold my breath on that. MNZ are not the only ones with this problem , try getting riders and team managers/owners to send race reports , mate don't even get me started on that. I can say one of your riders Simon Volmer sent me info and so did Johnny Small and Choppa Frost, but as for anyone else HA! and it appears the more sponsored they are the worse they are at giving value for their sponsors. So it just isn't MNZ who are fault with communication.
I get bloody sick of the only volunteers argument , mate it doesn't matter if they get paid or not , people who put there name up for a job should at least see it out and not pass the buck when a bit of shit gets thrown.

Exactly. If a paticular discipline wants to get their name out there its up to them to provide you with the info. No info, no exposure & the last thing you should do is chase them.
Im sure that CC ing you into the NZSRA newsletter for example, would be a great start & no real hardship for either party.

I was talking to Chow-man, he's aware of the size of the job.
It needs a head honcho and input from people throughout the disciplines, not hard to copy and paste emails from people throughout the disciplines, and mailing should be via email and snail mail, which should be manageable.
Where it will fall over is from apathy; from the wider people who are within their own parts of the sport that won't keep up with input to said newletter.
I'm in for contributing something, best put a PGR rating on it - Probably gets Rude!

IMO there are three topics that are very worthy of being underlined:
1 - i think the minutes of all board meetings should be posted on the website,
2 - (The MNZ website) needs to stop trying to be a news site as well
3 - any dicipline action should be posted on there as well
The point of spending money on a website is to convey information that is relative to and for the benefit of the entity(Commercial or organisation) that commissions the website. The MNZ News is replicated and readily available for those who want it and for that matter an abundance of M/Cycle sport internet news available.

Dunno about condensing the MNZ website, it's not hard to find your way around, most people just can't be fucked. They'd rather come on here and ask a bunch of armchair experts and sift through answers varying from the sublime to the ridiculous.
It's one option but I'm thinking that we should be looking at ways to improve communication and information presentation.
Another option would be to make the MNZ site more of a "one stop shop", with forums, regs, results, timing, events etc all incorporated. It would beat the hell out of logging on to several sites to see lap timing, upcoming events, rules, discussions etc.
Give people a reason to go there and they'll interact with it, and it will become an asset, not just a last resort.
As an example: the upcoming Road Race Riders forum. How limiting is it to require anybody inetersted to travel all the way to Palmerston North? The same thing could be happening online on a continual basis, with virtually instant feedback and more chance of making more people happier more of the time. Surely it would have to be more efficient? As it is a handful of people have to pretty much make an educated guess at what is going to work best for it's members.
I'm thinking that the technology exists for instant online communication and it should be exploited, not minimised. It's not about 'entertainment' per se, it's about information and interaction, and if it's presented/organised in the right way the more the better.

National average for organisations such as MNZ is around 10% of membership. So MNZ is about right. Long way from the NELSON AGM several about 4 years ago when there was only 99 votes , so people are at least beginning to take some notice that MNZ is a member based organisation and you can have your say.

Long way from the NELSON AGM several about 4 years ago when there was only 99 votes , so people are at least beginning to take some notice that MNZ is a member based organisation and you can have your say.
Hopefully its safe to assume that the on-line vote option helped get a few more votes in this time. Well done on making this happen MNZ.
Probably best to have the key positions voted for as part of the on-line license renewal. - but would means moving license renewal dates to 60days prior to voting date?

So long as membership renewal dates are not written into the constitution, so it can only be voted on at an AGM. So the idea is solid, but a minimum of two years away. Longer even, because that would first need to pass, before the submission of the renewal/vote could be tabled. And I think there is a minimum period for counter submissions to be made for and against.
Probably not the case, but a possibility.
