there are less and less people posting photos on kb due to their posting laws....so the mods will be happy but i think we all loose. You can post them on ADVrider and just put the link on here.

Thanks again to Ross for organising one hell of a ride. Remember guys, it's like doing TWICE the distance on a small bike!
Great video flick Nite Falc. Thanks to Wade & Gerrard for your favourable comments about my little scooter.
Hey Woodman, it's a 2001 Honda FTR223 Tracker. Just a Jap Domestic Market commuter that uses the electric start 230 engine with CV carby & 5 speed box. Its styled on the famous USA FlatTrack 750cc racers. It is a lot of fun & gets heaps of attention.
I was not impressed though, trying to catch that little DR200 on the highway, back from Waipuk to Hastings! :weep:
Seems like that little black bike finds an extra few MPH in top speed when it knows it's heading for home!!
Looks like i will have to dig out that Hot XR200R motor i have hidden away, cos it ain't no fun bein beaten by a Girl on a SMALLER capacity bike! :pinch:

:Oi: Dammm it Ross, I forgot all about the Banana Dance challenge with Marty didn't I ? . . . . & I HAD been practising LOL :msn-wink:
Less wind resistance, half the body weight & one tooth less on the counter shaft sprocket would have helped a lot.

You'll notice I'm always way out in front of way behind in dusty conditions. You can see the gaps in my K&N air filter. I might as well not have one. The camera has had a hammering over the last 4 years and is still hanging in. Getting towards 20 000 shots without a service, been wet a few times, shaken like shit, and just doesn't want to die. I've buggered a lens though.

Yeah my old 500D with 18-200 been a bit wet and dusty a few times too and survived. Just had a sensor clean and for sale along with a few other bits at photoworks on Hastings st in Napier.

Ok you lot, this is for a social get together prior to Xmas, Sat the 22nd at the Classic Club Rooms, Club opens at 2.30 pm and its opposite the Mangaroa Cemetry. There will be heaps of bikes there so we need to get some Adv bikes there to add some "Reality" to the occasion.
Myself and xrJohny are members there anyway and the club is inviting friends of members along so keep that afternoon free and hope to see you all there.

Yeah, Im aware that its a pretty mad time of the year to fit everything in but just thought Ide throw it out there and see what happens.
The classic club have their monthly ride on the last Sat of each month and end up at the club rooms for a few afterwards, the rides last for about 1.5 to 2 hrs and maybe its something we could do with them, yeah its a roady ride but its a ride and if there are no Adv rides happening then its an excuse to get together and give the bikes a run. They are an awesome bunch of people in the club and we would be made most welcome.

Would have been interested Ross but was still coming back the long way from wanganui street races. Was a few adventure bikes at the Whangamomona Republic Hotel but think most of them were rentals/german tourists.

I think you'll be disapointed in a 250. You could always just strip all the crap off the 690. It's only 20kg heavier with an extra 34 horsepower. If you want a fat, gutless, Suzuki, I'll swap you mine.

Those of us that made it to my cuzzies farm in Wairoa and the ones that didnt quite make it have unanimously declared that we will do it again, Circle the 6th of April on ya calender, This time the ride will start in Wairoa to maximise the time on the property. This would suit smaller bikes if you can lay your sticky paws on something. Doable with bigger bikes but you will be working harder with the higher gearing as this property aint flat. Looks like Wade might be trailering his orange beastie up there and looks like another trailer will have an XR200 twin shocker on plus a KL250 twin shocker and a DR200. So dig out the old chook chasers for some serios farm riding.

I'm with you Bart, blimin pikers :nono: hopefully there will be some room on a trailer for my trials bike...if I can find one :-)

I've ridden some trials bikes back in the late 70's, mind you just a 'play' on them . . . a TL250, Montessa. AWESOME !!!
Follow your dream buddy:wari:

Will be picking up our 1990 XR200 from the Honda Shop as it's been running poorly. Replaced manifold gasket, fixed a leak in header pipe & did the timing. Said it's running sweet now. NB It has DR250 forks & disc brake. All yours if you want to join the trailer trash Marty??

Most of the bikes going now on this trail ride are non road legal bike's other then mine & Wade's so if I can be driven back after a hard day's riding with a cold RTD or beer in my hand I will be happy :doobey::Punk::wings: LOL Who's going to drive the family falcon & trailer for me?

Was thinking about turning this ride into 2 parts, the farm ride is the trail ride and the adventure ride is dodging the cops on chook chasers getting there and back.

As discussed, I will claim a place on your trailer Robin and drive the 'Coon" if need be, is there room for a 3rd bike on there?, I will only be bringing the 2fiddy now as my son has higher priorities like a new girlfriend.

I reckon 9.00 in Wairoa, main st opposite Oslers bakery( Still the best in the country) There are picnic tables down on the river bank. The farm is about 20min from there.

Ouch Robyn, Hope you can get it sorted quickly, The ride wouldnt be the same without the mighty 200 Some of the farm will be fairly technical but good strapping will help if its not fully healed.
While on the subject of next Sat, The days are still pretty warm so having plenty to drink will be important cos we suffered from Dehydration last time. The work effort will be a lot higher than our normal rides due to the terrain (It aint flat mate).
Protective gear will be up to the individual, It will be all slow (ish) going, helmets and boots at least but its about staying cool enough to concentrate as well.

OK, we need to sort a cool ride for the 25th of this month for our visiting Nelsonite.

There are a few options depending on what your all up for? heres a couple of ideas

Option1 South - Havelock - Porangahau - Old Hill Road - Back gravel roads to Waipuk, Back roads to Gwavas, Salsbury Road, back to Hastings. Pretty much what me and Pomogolian did on Saturday. Takes about 6 - 7 hrs depending on stops - Good mix of gravel, twisty slab, beaches, cool veiws.

Option2 North - basically the Saturday ride of the MMMM from last year (if Clint can give me the GPS route...cant find mine). Ride up Napier Taupo road (1hr) head inland through forest roads, slab and gravel to Lake Waikeri - then gravel slab back to Napier- prolly 10+ hrs in the saddle-

any other ideas routes welcomed

If you want to go through Minginui, and it's not too wet, I could lead you through a bit of a challenge section :devil2: There are some old forestry tracks through the native bush there that I'm thinking of including in the MMMMM, as a slightly longer & harder alternative to the bit we did last time. It would be good to do a bit of a pre run with a small group & see how it flows.

We would probably split off at Waikaremoana & loop back home via the rest of the MMMMM route.

Cheers
Clint

Although through Minginui then around the lake is a fantastic ride its a long ride with fading light this time of year - so

the best route for route52 is via Masterton and comes out in Porangahu then off to Waipukarau but you'd prolly need a map at least to navigate it. Excellent road for biking; you'd need to allow an addtional 2 hrs if ya going that way- at least. Hi Marty

I have couple if you need them a 1/2 inch and a 3/8 one (snap on one no less) which you will probably need more than the 1/2, might even pop round for a nosey.

Checked out some fishing spots today down McKenzie road off Kahuranaki which has a nice gravel road across the farm - Mr Farmer happy for use for fishing only though, snagged a good one but he got away.

On the way there bumped into the owner that i know of Kahuranaki station who is happy for us to ride the lime track to the summit next week, its a long windy track with big drop offs with an great view from the top if there is no cloud. All his wife said was stick to the tracks, leave the gates as found & NO wheelies !!!!!!!

Thanks 1/2 inch should be the goer...theres only 2 nuts that need to be properly torqued, Rossco has also offered one but more the merrier...think Saturday is looking like rain so perfect for a shed day.

I know the kahuranaki track pretty well as I did some work on the telecom station up there years ago....I remember working away one fine morning seeing a sky hawke fly below me through the valley even waved to the pilot...few seconds latter the jet engine noise kicked in and it got real noisey. Fantastic sight though!

Woodmans Wild Weekend Wonder Ride.

Ok the plan is to meet at the Havelock BP station at 8.30am Saturday 25th. Leave by 8.45am. Route is (loosely):

Ride to Kaharanaki Station-head up to the top of the hill for a gander over the bay- 4wd track steep in places but no too taxing
Then on to Karaka beach, Gavel to Pouriri,
Beach it to Blackhead
Gravel to Parongahu - depending on time and enthusiasim quick run up the Northern end of Porangahu beach
On to Parongahu Pub for lunch

there are a few options for after lunch riding so will be group decision.

Weather looks good so should be a great days sight seeing and adventuring.

for those with fugal fuel tanks the distances are loosely these

Havelock to Pa-wrong-ahow pub ...allow say 150ks should be heaps. we should get there before 12 so you can top up at the garage...don't know if they have eftpos though.

If we do similer track ride back to waipawa that me and paul did a few weeks back it will be another 70-80ks before any gas. From there (again depending on where we go)will be at least another 120 ks back to havelock.

the afternoon ride is likely to "evolve" a tad so could be long short or medium.

At worst you will need to have enough gas for say 230 k's....if you dont fill up at poorongawho

Hope that helps with your planning.

yeah, I'm sure that track was wider than that in real life.....otherwise I would have riden slower, like we mentioned at the ride breifing "go over the side up there and all we can do to help ya is lay a wreath to mark the spot" :gob:
