thanks husk , what tube size do you think there useing
1'' and 1 1/8 inch. I am pretty sure I can find out for sure what the Hailwood 500/4 had.
you should be able to blow up a pic and measure off something you know for sure the size like the valve cap on the replica or the handlebar on the gen Works one.
like the front brake is 220mm the rear is 200mm
The forks not sure but likely 33-35mm
http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/honda-rc174-rc-reborn
Having said that Beale did a full blown 250/6 replica there will be drawings on the net.
I have seen engine drawings

Good stuff. Now lets see a dyno run.
How low its the compression on that thing that allows you to start it like that! The lower compression and unleaded gas will certainly help to keep the heat down. If you can afford to run MITS it will run cooler and make more power, just don't breath the stuff in, it hurts!

Well you'll be on a 24mm carb with entirely different set up. But I'd start a 50 pilot and see if it doesn't splutter to death with that.
The pipe looks like an NF4 pipe but the header looks huge and the stinger waaay too big.
Edit, some of that is bracing and low def picture but some power to be found there.

Air Correction is worth a look at to.
One trick with earlyer TZ carbs was to remove the air corrector jet altogether, made them rev on way better with a slightly bigger main.
258280258281258282
OK, used a bit of 1/4" SS tube and linished it down to 6mm, spinning the job with a battery drill makes for a fairly round finish, cleared the end with a center drill, tapped a 13mm length into the carb, Job done. The hole next to it is plugged and I may smooth it off with glue sometime.
But now I guess I have to go back and check it on the dyno again.
I may be able to use a bigger mainjet now more air will be going through the air correction jet.
Bigger main jet should mean richer down low to mid for smoother drive at the lower end of the torqe curve and then drill the air correction jet out untill the top makes best power.
258284
On other sessions while testing different carbs the area between 8 and 9 K on the graph, the curve was much smother and sounded better on the dyno when it was richer there.
258285
The blue line was the IE carb I tried a while back, the jetting on one of the runs didn't make much power but it drove well in the 8-9K area.
I wonder if with a bit of playing with a bigger main jet and carefully drilling out the air correction jet I can get the red line to drive as smoothly.

I'll bite. You bastard, Rob's KE :motu:
Rob runs small main jets in my KE compared to the GP's, currently a stage6 122 hex main jet. I don't imagine the size of jet for that motor will be any help to you guys as you're using those silly flapper things on the inlet.

No, just waiting on trying to fix the old dyno, think the software has clapped out on it again. Maybe they should employ engineers to design their shit more robustly.
Won't be rushing this me thinks, needs testing, tuning, testing again, then probably some weights added to it to give others a chance. ;)

I've always been able to turn over my twostroke buckets by hand (even my MX125s when I couldn't be bother getting it off the stand to kick).
Some TFs had serious compression (Pete Sales tuning).
The TZR100 runs about 13.1 (a little low) and that starts in second.

Gave this a go the other night.
Engine felt like it wasn't going to turn over without a fight. So I rock it back and forth to find the low compression point then give the wheel a serious pull ... bike falls off stand
Like I said originally you boys must be running seriously low compression in that thing
you boy you got to remember your arms are like a piece of string that would not help.

I've always been able to turn over my twostroke buckets by hand (even my MX125s when I couldn't be bother getting it off the stand to kick).
Some TFs had serious compression (Pete Sales tuning).
The TZR100 runs about 13.1 (a little low) and that starts in second.
It's about the technique not brute force..
true - but some flywheel weight helps too.
I could start my manx like that - when i was young and fit....

Was relaxing last night drinking and talking shit when I got a phone call to do a story for Stuff.co
I remembered the last story they did for GPR when every second sentence was a blatant cock up. This time however, they rung because I am apparently Ashhurst's towns historian, knock me over with a feather....LOL
So, they have put up a story on the old Commercial Hotel in the Manawatu part of stuff, and they only misquoted me twice this time.
I reckon by the next attempt, we may get a truthful story in the Press.

The funny thing is, I wrote something word for word and sent it to her with no mistakes, and she managed to turn them into mistakes. Things like plucking quotes and when she muddled them up, they have a different meaning. Even gave her a list of the 20 previous Publicans who operated the place, back to the original Commercial in 1890.
Didn't tell her the brothel story though, that may not be a good selling point...:shit:

Papers eh, every year we give the local reporter a write up about the street races, and every year they re-hash it and cock it up, apparently if you give them something ready to go it's classed as advertising, so they have to put it into their own words. Also our local rag is more inclined to go for a headline like " Drunken hehaviour keeps police busy after Street Race " rather than " Crowd enjoys spectacular days racing " as a lead in to the article.

I can recommend Nuun tablets, like berrocca but electrolyte stuff. Get them from bicycle shops. Helps stops cramps etc whilst racing, - but good for hangovers, esp if you take one the night before.

I'd be careful with the PGM over rev timing. The timing is designed to run with a switched power jet, dumping heat into the pipe. Not sure how the air cooler will feel about that.

All the more satisfying to try and win with old 90's wire in a box technology...
It is buckets, would hate to win with a bike that is completely made up of production road racing gear, with an engine that has never been in a commuter bike. Where's the fun in that?

Spoz you will be able to map what the box is doing on the dyno. I don't think its the ignitechs fault. :0 The 300's would not be as good with the PGM anymore. But thats mostly due to the compression. Also good for a quick shifter. They work a treat. I will be running one on the bucket. Worth major time on a kart track I reckon.

Speaking of my F5 bike, its an XR100. I can call it an XL100 if it makes people happier. I'm sure he won't care it's not a twostroke nor a bucket (or is it)... Spent the afternoon pondering what the other engine option might be like... Kinda like a mini moto2 bike... We could call it a BSR or SBR, I'm sure we can come up with a number of terms for those two options...

Right given its NYE: here is the 2014 Aims for GPR boys (lets hope we can tick off a few):
1. Get the Superlight F3 bikes running and out for the winter series. 550cc,400cc & 250cc. ---tick
2. Dig out the hydroforming kit from the back shed and start playing. ---underway
3. More Carbon Fibre parts.... ---tick
4.Workable CDI...:angry2: ---solved with ignitech
5. Exhaust systems <90dB (make the bikes super quite so we can sneak up on people) ---tick
6. Another Bucket Sidecar --- underway
7. Start replacing the RS125 running gear with other stuff. --- Tick
8. Actually paint all the bikes (I said Paint: not spray bomb Kerry)... ---tick sort off...
9. Engine Dyno (so we can fettle to our hearts content) ---half way there (just needs a couple of bits).
10. 30Hp bucket (got to set the Bar high). ---- linked to item 11.
11. Cast our own GPR engine (now its on the list Scotty). ---- talking but CNC ran hot instead.
12. Fuel injection (maybe this item 4): --- underway
13. Dig out all the ZXR400s for the 90's carb class. ---- Carby class gone now...
14. Take "big stinky" to the sidecar "have a go day" in May. --- no one said which may...
Right time to tick off some of this....
And another four frames built over this period....
Not a bad effort over a couple of years...
Also significant effort toward getting some local racing going...

Just don't run the "PMT 10". They get really moody and unpredictable.
I have taken the RS50 to Tuning Stage 0.25 Thats means I ripped the airbox of, drilled the main jet, and chopped the guts out of the stock pipe. She goes great guns. Stage one tune will be a little more considered. I really like this bike. Will post a pic later.
