Saurian Meditations - it's an Acoustic/Egyptian Folk music Album from Karl Sanders (Lead Guitarists for Technical Death Metal band 'Nile')
It's Dark, brilliantly written, with lyrics referencing various ancient Egyptian/Mesopotamian legends/stories.
Very accessible for anyone. Particularly recommended is "Of the Sleep of Ishtar" - starts at the 4 minute mark.

This band has led me off into a whole genre of throat singing, traditional instrument, historical rock.

I'm legit excited for the Rammstein album, and the TooL one.....I still can't believe it. What if this is some kind of Mandela Effect or something? God I hope its real, and I am still in my own dimension.
As for what I am listening to. I had to find some "Nice" and "Happy" music to balance our my life when shit got really dark last year. Came across these guys (who's live performances are also very cool). But I just love the rhythm of this particular song. Good bass too.

Well had to search them out and...
...I'm liking the barnyard country with the rappity hip-hop; not so much the chick tho.
After listening to 5 or so songs I'd have to put 'You can never go home' as one of the better as it limits that chick but hey personal preference & all that

He was a great musician, shame he shot himself.
To be honest I always thought Emerson was a bit try-hard. He could certainly produce amazing assemblies of sound, but it always seemed he was more interested in the show.
I suspect Greg Lake was the real prodigy, there. He wrote Lucky Man at age 12. Amazing voice. And he was no slouch on that Gibson.

A few months ago, I only knew of RW as the lead singer on Genesis' Calling All Stations from 1997 - not a bad album, just 'different'.
Then I came across some of RW's videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW1Gt05auqk) on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NOVs2-omoE) and took a liking to them ... and now I have downloaded most of the live and studio albums from his website (https://www.raywilson.net/), and happily listen to him all day long.

Not sure how enjoying the educational music from Skynd makes me a Trump Supporter? but I do hope he gets a 2nd term. Thoughts on the album so far?
I made the mistake of absolutely thrashing the live versions of Descending and Invincible from that Rockville concert. Like seriously daily for the last two months. So hearing the studio versions felt weird. Amazing tracks still.
Fear Inoculum (title track) has really grown on me after a decent amount of plays so I guess I'll warm to the rest eventually.
A part of me knows Maynard will never be able belt out those insane screams from the likes of Aenima and Lateralus so all his vocal parts on this new album remind me of that pretty anaemic sounding A Perfect Circle album they released last year. When he keeps it mellow and haunting sounding he sounds his best but nowadays the angsty shit sounds a little restricted.
As for the music itself......it's fucking insane! Dudes are nearly sixty and are still pushing the envelope. No other band comes close.

I recently rediscovered my love of ska and have been listening to all my old CD's - Trojan compilations, Studio One, Lee Perry and so forth, as well as the British second generation bands. I have had this stuck in my head for a week or so.
Oh, and they have released and remastered AK-79. So get your punk on. If anyone has an original copy for sale or the red cover reissue I will pay you very good money indeed for it. Similarly if you have any records by The Gordons just cluttering your shit up. And I won't try and rip you off - I will pay you the proper money for them.

She's an interesting lady. From memory - She left school, and Australia, to play bass in the USA when she was sixteen. She got coverage with Jeff Beck but she is now a singer songwriter with her own band and has opened for some big name acts.

Yesterday Phil Collins was trending on Twitter. That often means whoever is trending has shuffled off this mortal coil. Not this time.
You may already be aware but there is a YouTube thing where people react to music they have never heard before. Young people, particularly young black people. can be amazed at the music from the late 60s and the 70s. They've never heard anything like it.
There's a couple of college guys, both musicians I think, and they kept saying the bands were ahead of their time, To that extent I disagreed, that era musically was the time.
Anyhoo, this is what got Collins trending.

This is my favourite record by far this year. Come for the fuzzed out 70's proggy/bluesy vibe (early Black Keys when they were good, say), stay for the lyrics. You'll likely have to look em up.... the vox are pretty buried but the sentiments shine through.
Bonus: the entire album is the soundtrack to this anime thing that is on Netflix. Line-dancing samurai! muscle cars! explosions! cartoon boobies! revenge!

I used to say, "I'm not a country fan but..." Then one day it occured to me I had a few too many country albums to say that any more. The industry is racist as Hell but there are some people that aren't, and there's a lot of talented artists on the treadmill. Zac Brown, Brad Paisley, Chris Stapleton for openers. Brown and Strapleton both won Best New Artiist awards after multiple decades on the road. Stapleton already had several Grammies for songs he'd written that others had made famous.
Best New Arist must have a slightly different meaning in country music.
And that was a good track.

Its a sad day. Was at an 80s gig a few weeks back with my mates band playing, listening to him shred it to Beat it (he's an insanely good guitarist) was awesome, considering as the story goes that it was just Van Halen jamming it goes to show his talent. I was listening to this album yesterday while painting. Sometimes it's like you're listening to Amy Winehouse. Other times, as here, she is very much Andra Day. If you saw the Dr Who episode about Rosa Parks you will recall this song being featured as Parks was being led away by the cops.

At her suggestion the Eagles were formed to be a backup band for Ronstadt. As they rehearsed it became apparent to them that the available talent was too good to be a backup band, so they gave her the sad news. She went back to the drawing board.

Bit of a one hit wonder weren't they? If I never hear 'that ' song again I will be eternally grateful .
Think my dear old dad had one of their albums.
Had a Don Henley cd. Was OK to paint the lounge to, but that's not a job I do often.
Try some Tantric. Egypt Central. 3 Days Grace.
