thats not a bad price for new rims
normaly you pay around 260 for the rim alone
if you can find them

you would rather pay $100 for a rim thats 3 times the weight
and dosent look as bling. your cheap
do you race buckets ????

I've just brought Digital Vernier Calipers from The Warehouse (of all places).

They cost $20, they don't feel like the top of the line kit but they're actually pretty good.

One of the handiest pieces of kit you can have IMHO.

You'll have to adapt something, measure up things like RG150 or FXR150 front ends. Check the overall length of the fork from the axle to the bottom triple clamp and from the bottom triple clamp to the top one. Next thing to check is that the bearing match in the steering head.

On my AX100 I had the steering stem machined off the AX triple clamp and welded onto the bottom clamp of the forks I was putting in. A little adaptation at the top and it was good to go. I used CB125T forks with emulators from Robert Taylor. 33mm is the smallest emulator available. You don't need emulators normally but I did due to the height of the steering head on the AX. It left no room for the fork action so I needed more control over the suspension.

To add to my earlier suggestion try getting in touch with the Loncin man. He might have something that works Nudemetalz is one of the few on here who would have his details. I'd envisage spending maybe a couple of hundred dollars but if the engine is in reasonable condition it would be worth it in the long run.

Could be a good starter project.

Fairly averagely. 4 speed box with no possible mods to swap a 6 or 5 speed into it.

Good for a starting bucket only. Skunk bike is a AX100. He's gotten a fair amount out of his :). But is still limited to the box.

Ok guys, so in your opinion, how much work/$$ to turn that bike into an entry-level bucket racer for a noob such as myself? I.e. not super-competitive.

Looking at it, a seat is required. That should be all. I assume it runs etc.
DO NOT consider making it any faster than it is. The 4 speed box is not a 'fixable' item unlike the MB/H100. Any money spent is pretty much lost. I speak from experience... If you plan on changing the engine for something else then the frame is worth developing. It'll never be an A grade winner though.

Really? So the bits and bobs like brakes etc suggested by Squiggles wouldn't be essential? (I know brakes are essential, but is what's on the bike sufficient?)

Nah, like I said - entry level only required at this stage.

Well that's interesting to know, could be an option!

I have a seat and rear end of Pammy's that you could have that'd probably fit providing the frame hasn't been modified so a standard AX seat and arse end doesn't fit any more.

It depends on whether the bits are there or not and whether the bits that are there fit (eh, Trudes  ). Anything can be MADE to go. It just takes time and who you know. Bucketeers down here tend to help each other out - I guess it's the same there.

My old trusty Suzuki AX1R (AX100) engine is for sale. Runs well. Could do with a freshen up (light hone and new piston) but not essential. Done three seasons since last rebuild.

Engine was built by Pete Sales and runs AvGas and Motul 800 at 33:1. Good power though a little peaky for the four speed box.

Complete engine - carb, coil, etc. No chamber.

Comes with spare cases and gearbox.

I'm thinking around $200. Way under what I paid to get it built and sorted.

Note that this is NOT an A100. Very different engines.

It's a bit of a loose area, like the TZ50, but there is a precedent. Both these bikes have the exact same engine as the street legal bike TZR50 or the GPR or Senda Derbi. Both these bikes have won F5 GPs, they are very fast.

Wrong thread really but....

I spoke to Dave about his new bike, There is probably a transition time for most riders making big changes. As I found going from the FXR motor to a RX 2 stroke. Dave said the bike was a lot smaller in the RS chassis, a fact which Scotty from ESE probably found out. Dave's an experienced and competent rider and I'm pretty sure when he's fully come to terms with the bike he will be as competitive as ever.

By the way SHEL Racing is moving on up:headbang: Two RX125's in develpment with a lot help of TZ350  and as some of you have guessed Dave's TZ50 now belongs to the SHEL Racing workshop :niceone:

Anyway we love the smelly ol' two strokes now, as for four strokes.... well :zzzz::zzzz::lol:

I have the measurements, it is a 20mm axle with 25mm at bolt head end. Length from outside to outside is 224mm so I'd need something in the 240mm range. Longer is fine, I can machine to suit!

Any help appreciated. And before anyone asks, yes I have asked a few wreckers. We don't have any local so no luck there!

.

Had a bit of a disappointment with bidding on something from JawaJoe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=232164527

I had wanted some spares for my Motorcrosser and bid for two sets of gears and a reed assembly.

The first picture is JawJoes auction and the second picture is what I received.

I asked about the condition of the gears and was assured they were fine.

I placed my bid and duly received one set of mangy gears and no reed valve.

I rang him about it and the tenure of his reply was "whinge, whinge, shop else where as old joe takes no prisoners"

If you received less than was pictured and described in the auction would you feel ripped off? I do.

He has eight red faces, three blue and many not completed sales, I should have checked before dealing with him, silly me.

If your buying from Trademe I suggest you give JawaJoe a skip.

.

If your shopping for parts, it looks like JawaJoe is someone to avoid.

Those frames are surprisingly heavy, but I think it the linkage stuff that could be replicated in ally & no worse than many other 250s. Would be stiff & easy to mount virtually anything in. With discs on the wheels that isn't too bad if they are the right sizes.
