Thanks for the thought Wickle. Voltaire is all set to ride it back from Dunedin in a week or 5 when he goes down for business. Kiwi GS is going to ride it from Balclutha and give it a full service new head stock bearings, wheel bearings, swing arm, re-kit the Master cylinders and calipers and new brake pads. He's a saint;)

If I can get all the missing bits I'd like to return her to original but the fairing looks to be rare as. Dapole is helping with supply of the two large side covers and I'm looking at the little ones under the seat on fleabay. Trying to get a shipping price. If I can't get a fairing I have a back up plan for a Guzzi Le Mans fairing. Might look quite good.

Didn't get the scales right in the picture. Fairing is smaller than that.

You may be able to get the seller to ship internationally for this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suzuki-GS1150-GS1150E-GS1150ES-Fairing-Cowl_W0QQitemZ1
I've often sent emails when it's not stated on their site and found, surprisingly yes. The freight might kill the deal though.

Yeah Croc, I play around the gaps all the time. GS1150Suzuki at present shows nothing as did GS 1150. I usually find most on GS1150 Suzuki, currently over 100 items, including some of the other panels you need. The results vary from day to day, so keep trying the lot.

Hey there all our wider BFTP members.
We is trying to sort out our plans for the protest ride (from accommodation side) We have a couple of ideas on the table but need to act fast or our options will close off.
It would be great if we could take advantage of this opportunity to get as many of our far flung members together as possible. Best way of making that work is to have common accommodation.
In order to act now to secure accommodation we need to know how many are coming.:Pokey: Please post your intentions here (maybe someone will do an event calender entry)
Voltaire has made the suggestion that we could have our BFTP logo added to the black protest shirts that are on offer ( http://www.quasimoto.co.nz/products/acc-protest-t-shirts ) Bloody good idea.
If you guys buy the shirts and get them to me by the 6th November I can get the logo's put on (will have to double check $) for about $15 each.

Well! we made it to Pukekohe for the classic races (and post classic) Saw a bunch of beautiful bikes (see pics), then made our way from the carpark to the pits for a look at the noisy racers. Cool experience to be able to walk amongst them an oggle them up close.

Right! I have done (and sent off) an appropriate letter using some of the stuff on the main KB ACC thread.
Have pasted a copy below in case any others would like to utilise it themselves. Please do so. It makes a difference
Dear MP,
I have attempted to keep this letter as short and to the point as possible. Please read all of it.
As I understand, it is your duty as a member of Parliament to represent the interests of those in your area and voice them to parliament - as such I am writing to urge you to make clear my voice, and the voice of those around me.
The proposed ACC Levy increase is based on highly questionable (read fraudulently represented) statistics re historical ACC claims for motorcyclists. The claim figures touted include claims relating to off road motorcycles involved in Motocross racing when they are not even registered road users (we are talking tens of thousands off road motorcycles). It is no more appropriate to levy the registrations of road legal motorcycles for claims relating to off road motorcycles than it is to to levy fishermen for claims relating to mountain climbing.
Additionally the proposed method of levy collection is inherently inequitable for the purpose when it is considered that the ACC compensation claims and payouts are are not made for damage to the motorcycle itself, but are made in relation to injuries sustained by the individual riders. Any levy proposed to target a group which represent a higher risk, should be charged on an individual basis. Not on the basis of size or number of motorcycles owned. Are you aware that as an owner of several post classic motorcycles (which I only ride one at a time for an approximate total of 5000km per year) I am expected to pay several times more in ACC levy than and individual who only owns one motorcycle but whom rides 20000km per year. That is I would have to pay $5,250.00 pa for my 5000km ($1.05 per km) as opposed to $750 for 20000km ($0.04 per km) for the individual who theoretically is 4 times more likely to make an ACC claim. Unfortunately I can only ride one motorcycle at a time. Why aren't we imposing a levy on chainsaws and other highly dangerous equipment that are associated with high ACC payouts?.
In ACC's Injury Statistics 2008 report http://tr.im/BV1k , ACC details claims against the Motor Vehicles account - the virtual pool that gets claimed upon whenever a road-registered vehicle is involved in an accident. The report gives statistics for the number of new claims, the number of active claims and the cost of those claims. As the report breaks down the claims by vehicle type, it's easy to compare the cost of claims... as follows;
Cyclists:
- 567 active claims
- $12,573,000
- $22,174 per claim... (Note these individuals are not paying a registered vehicle levy yet they use the road and create the risk situations that result in the claims that cost more than motorcyclists) How many are run over by cars rather than motorcycles?? I hazard a guess that it's 90% or more
Pedestrians:
- 1115 active claims
- $24,494,000
- $21,967 per claim... (Note these individuals are not paying a registered vehicle levy. How many are run over by cars rather than motorcycles?? I hazard a guess that it's 90% or more )
Car Occupants:
- 8525 active claims
- $208,305,000
- $24,434 per claim
Motorcyclists:
- 3173 active claims
- $62,523,000
- $19,704 per claim...... (the least amount)
I trust that after reading this email (and others no doubt) that you will have an awareness of the inequity of the proposed registration increases and will take appropriate action to ensure that a fairer approach is taken to ACC's mismanagement of it's allocated funds rather than one that simply passes on the bill to an individual group of taxpayers.
Needless to say, future votes are to be won or lost on this issue.
Regards
a concerned voter

The day after I met Dieseldick I went for a ride down to Palmy north and met up with a mate on a GSX1200. We were heading back to the 'Bay on the back roads.
Not far from Porangahu I came around a slow down hill corner and met a sheep head on. :shit:
The GSX1200 was riding point and must have spooked it.
Long story short, I had to ride back to Hastings with a broken and dislocated shoulder, torn ligament in my knee and a few cuts and bruises. :weep:
Once in Hastings I went straight to the Em doctors who misdiagnosed my shoulder as a "bump" and I spent 20 hours with my shoulder out of joint.:(
After a few years one shoulder reconstruction and one knee reconstruction I am good as gold.:woohoo:

Yes I know it's the same- hence the option to replicate, I like the slash angle at the end, 5 mins with the hacksaw. Welder is still out, have some finishing on the stainless rack for the BMW.
Another while you wait, and I blind you with the arc flash job again?
I should have made you wait a few days for the seat base, you are getting too used to this fast turnaround engineering.
I thought you were piecing together a 4 into 2 system? Seems pointless to muck around with the existing one if it is only a stop gap measure... stop dicking around and go buy a full system on E-Bay, I dare you! Or you could rob the exhaust off the parts bike croc hasn't even bought yet:laugh:

Dodgy, I thought you were going to operate on my pipe, with that hacksaw.
It's only angle cut that way because I had to operate on the baffle.
The previous winter, I started the engine, just after an oil change. A real loud knocking sound erupted, so I shut it down pronto.:sweatdrop
Didn't have time to check the oil pressure light, so I was packing it. Rechecked the "CASEYE" and found plenty of oil. Re-started it and let it idle, to have the knock disappear after expansion took over.
While the baffle was out, I relieved some resistance, aligned the slash to it's present angle and put a plug weld up front. No more rattles and sounds just right.:done:

Yeah it makes enough of a racket now. Baffle was totally choked in, plus there has been a lot of previous "welding" been done and I suspect the heat from that has distorted the cylinder shape and locked in the baffle.
Glad psyguy's pretty handy with a hacksaw, after making the rear rack for the BMW this week, I was totally over hacksawing.

Dodgy,I had to be brutal with mine to get the baffle assy out. After cutting the cylinder from the cone, you have to undo a small cap screw under the slash cut area and then drive the baffle out through the slash opening. The cylinder is slightly oval, so it takes a bit of force. Before re-assembly, I drilled a 6 mm hole in the underside of the cylinder up near the cone, so I could plug weld it to the baffle after re-alignment and welding the cylinder back onto the cone. It's a bit noisier now, but not toooo much.:Police:

Dodgy,I had to be brutal with mine to get the baffle assy out. After cutting the cylinder from the cone, you have to undo a small cap screw under the slash cut area and then drive the baffle out through the slash opening. The cylinder is slightly oval, so it takes a bit of force. Before re-assembly, I drilled a 6 mm hole in the underside of the cylinder up near the cone, so I could plug weld it to the baffle after re-alignment and welding the cylinder back onto the cone. It's a bit noisier now, but not toooo much.:Police:
Blimey, glad psyguy didn't know all that first
Sounds like hours of fun for the whole family, such a shame to have missed out on it.

The parts bloke at the Ducati shop told me the GN 250 starter motor is the same as the 900ss....but I think his comment was aimed at Ducati owners not GN 250 ones...:eek5:
I don't know about GN250's but have you googled to see if other ones from the Suzuki range fit...?
Is the starter clutch a non return bearing sprag clutch?

not sure about the ducati compatability on the starter motor although
its quite possible, i think non return bearing sprag type is how you'd
describe this starter clutch...thinking it could be compaitble with other
suzuki models....maybe gsx250 etc but as yet have been unable to
find a match

Don't just limit your search to Suzukis mate.
i did a bit of hunting around when mine shat itself awhile back.
The stater clutch is an independently manufactured part.
I have a clutch from a smaller GS, which is the same as one used some Kwakas, on my 1000. It is physically smaller than the OEM one,but the PCD and the centre diameter are the same. It works perfectly. Not sure about the gear though.

2 ali washers on one rockercover is all that is stopping her from holding her juices. Mind you, I have never ever pushed Gina as hard as I did today. Redline? Past redline by 1000rpm. If that motor was ever going to handgrenade, it would have been today. Voli bringing the van allowed me to push further than the original manufacturer's limits and still get me bike home. Transporters, there's more than meets the eye:love:
If you can't break it, then it is fixed (Chapter #2, Drag Racer's Bible). And it is running as crisp as when I left home in the morning. Probably took 10,000kms life off her in less than 50kms, but what the heck, it was fun and everything is rebuildable.

Pre 89 and 82 together at the moment (The TRRS on 27/28 dec has them separate, That why I am taking LC and TZR)
If there are the numbers for pre82 I am pushing for separate classes(for PMCC rounds). I built my LC out of all my scruffy parts. There must be enough pre 82 GPZ550's ,XJ550's ,GS550's(yes I,m talking to you wickle ) and parts to get more bikes on the track. Junior is the cheaper option to race in, The senior bikes carbs are worth more than my whole bike lol
My bike is stock apart from jetting, getting the mesh out of the pipes and smaller baffles and getting rid of all the road gear(30kg lighter) A pair of Pirelli Sport Demon's and some homemade preload adjusters and 10cc more fork oil.I have clipons and rearsets now (got sick of trashing toe sliders) and cut 40mm out of my seat foam, still mucking around with the seat and will upholster it when its right
2nd hand (mint condition with good armour)leathers cost $400
You dont need tyre warmers lol , thats what the sun is for mate, you just got to move the bike around between races :wari:

I reckon a 9am start time would be appropriate.
Further, if we can meet up with the guys from Hamilton at say 10.15 am at the Kingsgate, that would be great.

Well parking sounds like it's sorted. I'm gonna be a wild goose
I note (without condoning any implications) that the stadium parking will be for the organised convoy coming down SH1 and 2.
Molesworth St will still be reserved for bike parking for what the police are calling "wild geese" - riders who arrive independantly. eg riders from the South Island riding in from the Interislander terminal.
Neither the BIKEOI organisers nor BRONZ (nor the police for that matter) have any ability to prevent riders making their own way to parliament by whatever route they choose , and parking in Molesworth St
(Parking within parliament itself was never an option)

I really liked Dodgys Guzzi....what a coooool machine.
.....and apparently the rear brake, if I had used it ,works one of the front ones too.....:eek5:

Goes away at less than 80kms.....:bash:

Once we were past the motorway and Hauraki plains it was all beautiful windy roads leading to more windy roads which lead to even more windy roads. For the most part the road conditions were very good and the coast line was amazing. It's almost a pity we were whizzing through it so quick

A truly amazing ride today jenneleman, great to have 9 bikes on the start line so to speak.
Guess we can actually say that the BFTP has conquered the coro loop once and for all.
Note for all adventurers going a long way from home, put in one of those cans of slimey stuff for making tyres round again.
The old coal burner loved those hills and the windy bits, never missed a beat, tyres both now officially scrubbed in and working well.
Bring on Taumaranui.
