Biker culture, politics and general issues.
Well i have recently started riding. My hubby started a couple of years ago and I decided it looked fun and would have a go. So bought a new GN125, decided to start small as my last experience on a motobike left me on crutches for many weeks! Not enjoying the 70km/hr rule, have managed to somehow misplace my 'L' plate, no dramas yet, had a couple of near misses but my GN seems to be very forgiving and looks after me well... although I'm definelty keen to now get something bigger! Finding ...
Tonight, I have with some small fanfare and trepidation, have put my reputation and money where my mouth is ... I went and announced to the whole of the KB world that Jeaves and I have opened our own online bike parts store. With quality bike parts sourced from the land of the rising sun. It was two years ago that over the re-wiring of my lil'ol'hornet's lights (for what seemed like the umpteenth time) that Jeaves and I were doing the classic Kiwi moan. "Why can't we get the cool ...
Well, another Monday finds yours truly riding to the usual rendezvous outside Auckland Public Library. Oddly enough, I am usually the first to be awaiting others to arrive, usually snacking on a frozen confectionary made in some dubious asiatic clime. This time, due to commitments and me being in several places at the same time, I arrived nearer to the end of the meeting time before departure. Still, I managed to consume an ice cream treat that resembled a watermelon slice (which, ...
Harken to thee all once again my fine body of diligent and doting readers. I have a tale filled with fire and fury, signifying nothing (but possibly a two stroke ring of noise), but all to do with the foolish follies and foibles of your lamentable and most lambasted provender of sordid biking tales. In the interim of the time passed, since last I quoted my less-than-regaling stories of being a harried user of two wheeled contrivances, I have found myself in all sorts of mundane and ...
Trini was sitting waiting for a part to turn up from the UK because the muppets had lost a spacer in the rear wheel but rode her anyway, stuffing the bearings and seals. So I shot in to see Kat at Hamilton Motorcycles and ordered that along with the front sprocket cover (muppets again). Two and a bit weeks later they turned up so I gave Brent a holler. I shot around and picked him up after we rounded up a few tools . We shot around to where Trini lives and got into it. First ...
I have just talked to a mate and he had exactly the same service last month at Wellington Motorcycles . They used exactly the same parts, fuilds etc on his Bandit 1250 (and a full fairing) and he was only charged $330. Now I am really gutted I will be getting a copy of his Tax Invoice and presenting this to the owner. Update and reply to previous post - Sanatised 09 Feb 2010 I have just returned from Auckland after ...

Now I appreciate that owning a bike and servicing it is not a cheap exercise. This I was and am prepared for… However, when you are given a total quote on two separate occasions you expect that to be the cost. On each I was told the total cost would be $395(ish), not the fricking $592.43 I have just bloody paid. My baby has just had its 12,000k service. I have got home and am still fuming! Not only has the ‘required work’ (ref service manual in front of me), not been done, but that ...
