Just after Christmas I raced at Taupo (on Wanisami), which while being a blast (even though I totally blew the start really showed that I need a F4 semi-competitive bucket to be satisfied so i can race in decent entered race.

Hence the birth of "IKASU" (Japanese slang for "out of date but cool"); I'm taking a Yamaha RX125 engine and putting it into a Suzuki RG50 rolling frame. So far it has cost me 275 for the Yamaha, ...

  5. The posting of the first!

The musings and happenstances of a wayward motorcycling enthusiast in his short time as a new convert to this most elegant and charming of past-times. A rudimentary embellishment of experiences and post-reflection of occurences, encounters and other correspondence.

The story starts with a glint in my father's eye ... the other being temporarily weeping since a gnat had strayed into it requiring tear ducts to stream. In this state, the watery residue magnified the alluring qualities ...

The further up we went the less drizzle there was, and the cloud became less and less.
    Got into sunny Springfield ...

She looked so good on Trade Me. Her bright white wheels, winking at me coyly from the photographs. The write up was smooth and convincing, the interest of others encouraging, the questions asked both daft and probing in just the right degree.

A few drinks on a Sunday evening, a chat over the phone, and the deal was done. A 1990 Yammie TDR project bike was mine. Sweet as bro! Right? Wrong. Oh so very wrong.

I fly up to Welly to pick up my new ride. First impressions ...
  8. well, it happened again

cruising home after getting some work done on a saturday, thought i'd go for a quick blast through town. as i was leaving i turned into a side street between the two one-ways in town to get back in the homewards direction. i could see a guy in a big ute coming out of the driveway just a bit ahead of me, and i could see he wasn't looking right. in fact he was focussing to his left very hard for some reason. of course, being a biker for 8+ years you come to learn that most people simply don't see ...
