  2. Getting to Grips with the Czech Republic

We've been struggling a bit to get out on the bike. It seems to be harder to find time and good weather here than back home, but at least we're mobile and having fun when weather and work permits. We did a short run today - maybe around 200km's of the Czech Republics dodgy roads (funny to rip round a corner to have to dodge an open hole (winter was a bitch here and the ice has done loads of damage this year).

Its feeling great, being back in the seat after 18 months of winters (winter ...
  3. Some more stuff (Part 3)

Well I finally got off my ass and did some more.
I took the forks apart and changed the fluid because the front felt a bit so so. What a difference. Previously it felt like the bike wanted a fight when going around every corner. Now it goes where I tell it.

I took the flaking paint off and gave a good shine with a scotch pad left to right until I got the finish I wanted (not mirror) and then clear coated (can't be bothered painting).

    So now ...

  4. Scary Stuff!

I've never done this blog thing before, but thought this might help with coming to terms with my recent health scare - it's no fun being rudely brought face-to-face with one's mortaility.
A couple of weeks ago, I visited my GP to get a script filled, and while I was there asked him to check out my heart, as I had some chest pains. He was somewhat alarmed when he discovered I had "a rather loud systolic murmur" and said, "How come I've never noticed this before?"
    "Well.... you've never ...

  5. Restricted

Booked ... Paid for ... application done... am I nervous, HELL YES! Why I have no idea, I guess its better to worry about it, then go in all guns blazing, over confident. I am just going to ride, as I normally do, and hope that it goes well. Its a big few weeks, packing to move, restricted, ACC, IRD stuff... so I hope I sleep the night before, have a habit of getting butterflies before a big game... well this is the same. No pep talk is going to help... just getting my head in the right space. ...

  6. steampunk inspired veteran build

Have been working on the carb, a brand new Keihin 26mm, to make it appear rather more 'retro steampunk'
First I added a brass bellmouth made from a cut down brass vase & secured it with some holed brass strap made into a sort of hoseclamp
Then I took an old brass fuel cap & drilled/tapped it to take a modded airline fitting then glued it to the original carb top
Its OD was a little big so then I made a copper flared flange & riveted it on
Lastly I replaced the idle screw ...

  7. Finally some good news!

had my latest appointment with the specialist this afternoon and he's very happy with the way the collarbone is looking - 4 and a bit months on after the surgery. He said to see how things go for now, and perhaps by September get back in touch with him if necessary; but he'll leave it with me now.

  8. What a ride! What a day! What a gal!

This Sunday has to be one of the most eventful days I have ever shared with my KB friends, full of drama, fun, and blue skies!

Took my lady Kelly for a ride to martinborough on the KTM, and arranged to meet carla (aka Quasi) at the summit (Taka's of course) to head on down the hill with

So we pull up, get helmets off, chat away with a random biker we never met and my mate Matt pulls in with Graheme, a couple of riders I have come to know from the Gladdy circuit these ...
