Was a pleasure to drop in at the Avalon Duckpond tonight and see the BRONZ organisation lead tonight's ride program. A good pre-ride briefing and brief discussion of the route and potential hazards. I went digging back into my blogg and found the following entry: A Review The End Of Daylight Saving 2009-2010 Well done BRONZ for your efforts these past three years. (Since autumn 2010 there have been a few more bikes, and up around 100,000km ...
Gravel, roadworks, wind and sun - you're not my friend! Went on a nice trip in the weekend North Shore to work in Central Auckland on Friday, left work and stayed the night at a friends in Cambridge to help break up the trip a little from Taupo to Hastings the next day. Left Cambridge after a lovely bacon and egg mc muffin brekky and headed to Taupo to meet Grashopper on Saturday morning, few spots of roadworks, some road ripped up really bad on the way there, but somehow I survived... ...
It was the Cambridge to Hamilton Child cancer toy run this morning. I offered to take a friend of mine with me. She has a brain tumor and we never know if she has weeks or months left. She was VERY excited about having her first ride on a motorbike. As I went to leave to collect her the clutch cable on my bike snapped. No shops open etc.... I was just about in tears (don't tell anyone that) with disappointment for her. I made a comment on FB about it and next thing a friend turns up (from Eureka) ...
FRONT BRAKE CALIPER CLEANING How often should you clean your brakes? On a car we never do it and we transfer that logic and practical experience over to the bike. In truth, we should clean the brake calipers and pistons plus hardware (pins, springs and clips) every month on a commuter bike, every couple of track days on a track bike and daily on race bikes. Shocked? How much do we depend on or front brakes? How much braking force do the front brakes have over the rear? ...
It was apparent that the most overlooked part of basic set up was ergonomics. As such, being comfortable on your bike is not an option - it is mandatory. Let's run through each one in detail and if you have old injuries, respect them and adjust accordingly even if that means something isn't perfectly symmetrical. Handle bars Most stock bars have some adjustment. Not a lot at the triple clamp end but certainly a lot at the bar end, and that's the critical part. Do you know how ...
I returned this evening to the Avalon Duckpond with my VS800 (S50 Boulevard). After a seven month irretrieveable breakdown (where the bike went one way and I went the other) we have reunited. A broken collar-bone, two broken ribs, two displaced ribs and seven months later... The crew in Auckland did an amazing job of refitting and re-commissioning the VS800. And, so today it arrived from Auckland, I immediately reaquainted the bike with Eastbourne and the beautiful Wellington harbour. This evening ...
Friday morning I was off to Taupo for the Honda day. It turned out to be cheaper to do that, drive back home afterwards then head back down again on Sunday for the BRM Pacific Club Round 2. If I had've done Saturday/Sunday instead I would've had my wife with me so we'd have needed to get a decent motel room and food to keep her sweet about having to be at the race track 2 days in a row. I keep telling her Street Stock is perfect for her ...
Hey guys, thought I might start a blog documenting my experiences I have with biking i guess. Im not usually good at writing long, thought out pages but I will give it my best.
