Thanks again but all is good for a pillion space on Rhino's GoldWing. We went down to Gisborne last weekend and it was good to get back into the saddle if only as a pillion. Only a couple of ahhh moments, the worse one being seeing a rider down as we left Opotiki on the way home on Sunday. He was conscious and the ambos were with him but still flipped me for a while.

Today I actually really missed going for a ride on the bike. It was a nice day and not too hot. Bum!

Yeah that kinda thing does send shivers down my spine.

Glad you enjoyed being a pillion. It's always alot of fun. I enjoy it when I get the chance.

How long before the bike is back on the road?

Well I am a feeling a bit gutted at the mo. I had a ring from the assessor yesterday and he has finally got the price from Haldanes for the parts. The damage to the front part of the bike is more than we originally thought and it is now touch and go if she will be a write-off!!! The assessor is trying to do the best he can in negotiating the price, so at the moment it is a wait and see game.

I wouldn't be whinging about the insurance at all writing it off!!! your pretty lucky they are paying out considering you were riding in a bus lane .... seems your at fault here too BUS....BIKE.....BUS.....BIKE i mean as a regular car driver which i guess most people are!!! a bike is not something you expect to be in a BUS lane so the driver may not have seen you or saw you too late ... yes yes yes i know driver/rider vigilance but we all get blase about it you obviously weren't bothered about riding in a bus-lane and the driver of said vehicle was not bothered about looking for bikes in the bus-lane i mean it is lesson learnt i guess that we do have to be very aware that not everyone is vigilant about expecting the unexpected we don't have bus-lanes here in dunno's and please do-not get defensive or offended about my post just my perspective on the situation ... but girl and hope your back on your ride in no time at all i binned mine about 8 weeks ago broke my leg no buses involved tho brake lock-up to cut longstory short ...

Bike in a bus lane is totally legal. And normal. Why should there be any question over insurance?

I use them all the time. Just wish the buses would keep out of them.

Actually, in Auckland City we are allowed to ride our motorbikes in the bus lanes.
It is written in their laws etc. Came into effect a number of years ago.
The bus lanes are for motorbikes, buses and pushbikes.

(the motorway buslanes is another matter all together)

I guess in the 'deep south' where you come from your city council hasnt allowed that rule to change.
