I might have someone coming along to the mentor section (not the ride), she's been riding a while but is keen to come along and see Disco Dan's cones and the length of the hose he uses but is worried about the fact he can't keep it up (the leg that is) and is very quick when he is meant to be very slow. muhahaha
Sorry Dan, she's married (not to me)
We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

    Your in luck Busy !

I have just spoken to Macktheknife, and he is going to be bringing along his giant hose again for us to practice on!

    Day ride update

Kittyhawk and I have talked about the route and we are making sure there is heaps of stops - so people can ask questions and have a rest etc.

I understand that this may be a long ride for some new riders - so rest assured I will be prepared and we shall make sure everyone enjoys themselves!

Some of that road is a bit tricky. So I suggest you split experienced riders (not necessarily mentors, but make sure they are sane riders) up amongst the less experienced, so every novice has an experienced rider in site to follow.

    Greetings!!

I just ran the route quickly today....it was good, Clevedon to Kawakawa bay no problems with the seal on roads...however....

The first set of tight twisties between Kawakawa bay and Kaiaua has had roadworks done (its my favourite set of twisties!!!). It's been sealed but there is still loose stones in places.

It's not gravel hardcore but we do need to take care on this particular stretch of road. If you ride to your comfort zone in this area you will be fine

A tip for traveling from Kaiaua to Miranda....there is the odd sharp corner of 35km/hr and it is where some bins happen....

Tis all good though we wont be going at lightening speed. But at a good steady nana pace to enjoy everything.

Should be a good ride...(and will bring the camera)

Sounds like the Easter show ... Just remember a lot of newbies and others, I'll include myself in this, don't do a lot of 100 k + rides so may be suffering from sore butts by the end of it (even with breaks), so the mentor session afterwards may not get everyone at their best.

Now if I could only figure a way to include a coffee cup holder on my bike I'd be set

Yes, I realise that! You have the choice to either attend both or one or the other. You know how to carry a line through a corner Busy, and have good throttle control etc so you would prob gain more from coming along to the practice and riding over ladders!!! If you ever need to get your bike on the back of a ute using a ladder you will be sorted! (wont be that advanced folks dont worry!)

I dont get a choice in the matter! Im also doing a night shift that finishes at 7:30am wednesday morning.... 4 hours sleep then riding all day and practice in the evening finishing at the pub at 10pm.... you think YOU will be tired!!! Hows that for commitment!

I'll be there for the ride, 90% of my riding is just commuting and as open road riding is totally different I need some more hours in the seat on open roads.

I take my hat off to you for your commitment, just know your limits and don't over do them

Don't worry, one of the mentors will massage your butt for you dear. Disco or Kitty - your choice.
