Arrggh. Blood everywhere.

Bloody (literally) hell. Went down the road to the shops. And half way there my ruddy (literally) nose starts streaming blood like a fire hydrant.

By the time I got stopped and got my helmet off, it was covered in blood (inside) .

How do you remove blood from the inside of a helmet?

Damn thing wouldn't stop bleeding for ages, I was sitting at the road side , drip-drip-dripping for at least 20 minutes.

And it's *still* bleeding slightly. As well as the nose being all clogged up with hard dried blood.

Never had THAT happen before. Nosebleeds and full face helmets are fundamentally incompatible.

I hope it's stopped bleeding by the time I have to go home.

EDIT : Also how do you remove blood from bike plastics. It doesn't seem to wipe cleanly off.

Yes. That's what I need. A drink. Good idea. For medicinal purposes. And Speights has lots of iron in it, after all that exsanguination I'm bound to be iron deficient now.

Mebbe soaking with laundry detergent - many have enzymes that should help 'gobble' up the protein. Possibly stain removers too?

There's always that 'tech wash' stuff meant for riding gear and other sports equipment - pretty sure it claims to remove blood amongst other things.

Nothing too hot though, that'd denature the blood proteins and 'cook' the stain in.

Hope you're okay dude - bleeding noses are never fun...

You may want to go see a doctor ixion, seriously.

If it does not stop within 5-10 mins somethings wrong.

I had heaps at school (got me out of class

) but found out I had a weak vein in my nose - a quick head movement or a finger

would set it off. Ended up getting it quarterised.

I would use a diluted solution of bleach for your bike and wash it down with a hose straight after. As for you helmet, if you can remove the liner it is easier - soak it in antiseptic or something similar.

Had the same problem myself, quick temperature changes would set it off too. Ran into lake Taupo once, damn chilly, turned around to face the shore, about waist deep and my family is just standing there with their mouths open, I looked down and there was blood all down my chest into the water.
