I don't like lard factories either. But if we are to start dividing people into equal, more equal, and less equal than others, where are we to stop?

JEZZUZZZZ...no hope for me then as I am both fat (due to laziness) and short (due to genetics).

After all, disabled people became disabled by lifestyle choice - participation in dangerous activities such as riding motorcycles. We seem to be supporting rights of disabled people to lead the semblance of normal lives (such as paying the same price for parking even though their vehicle occupies twice as much space) just because one day we may need it? For crying out loud, am I the only one seeing a hint of hypocrisy here?
P.S. Regarding obesity not having anything to do with genetics:
the fact that pacific islanders have the highest population of obese people in the world absolutely has everything to do with their unhealthy lifestyle and/or racial stereotypes. [/sarcasm]
Disabled people are mostly disabled due to no fault of their own......most fatties are fat because they made the choice!

Question: Are all fat pacific islanders fat because they chose to be fat or because they have genetic predisposition to be fat? There is a whole gamut of metabolic disorders (a majority of them hereditary) that will inflate you like a balloon, regardless of the amount of exercise and quality of food.

if it's possible to divide one hugely obese person into two normal-size people then SURELY IT'S ONLY FAIR THEY PAY FOR TWO SEATS??

Metabolic disorders are generally caused by dietary and trace element issues. There are very few genetic disorders that cause obesity and they are generally missing or translocated chromosomes that cause the problem. Down Syndrome people for instance, have issues with muscle density and neutropenia. Muscle density runs at a 1/3rd to 2/3rds of a "normal" Homo Sapiens Sapiens and as a result a DS metabolic rate is positively torpid. The neutropenia means that bowel absorption is affected and as a consequence necessary trace elements aren't absorbed.

Type 2 diabetes isn't genetic, and neither is chronic renal disease, though the predisposition to Type 2 diabetes can be linked to genetics. Both generally happen after you've gained a significant amount of weight and kept it on for years. As a general rule a PI diet is lacking in many ways and over compensated in others. You can only eat so much pig meat and corned beef without putting weight on. Shoot me - it may be a stereotype, but it's also a truism.

The fat thing isn't hard to manage, it's just that we don't want to. I know I don't.

...and the people that are obese enough to be 'divided' would bitch and moan about that...

it is their choice. but it is not everyone elses' choice to have to look at them.

So what about people born with a disability who have no choice or someone who is disabled due to being hit by a careless driver...........saying 'After all, disabled people became disabled by lifestyle choice' is treading dodgy ground.

And if you divided Big Dave in the vertical plane, he'd make two Crashe sized people. So should he pay double ?

it is their choice. but it is not everyone elses' choice to have to look at them.
Which I suspect starts to get close to the real issue.
