Well, I haven't Joni, I was hoping for some form of "other side of the arquement" explanation. I have a lot of respect for Les and when he says stuff I listen and would appreciate seeing the whole picture.
If you can't / don't want to reply thats ok but at least state that.

Ixion's hints, without rebuttal, leave us with little choice but to assume it is a clash of moderating opinion/direction.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Yup I agree, Mods please explain as this guy was no lightweight to the motorcycle community and kept a very level head over a large range of issues. He was a valued contributor to this site offering good stable advice and leadership to many newer riders here.

Christ, is everyone sitting around waiting for a reason to have another go at the mods? (not meaning you Ix)... if you're not happy with the way that someone runs their site then vote with your feet like Ix has, or just deal with it and enjoy it for what it is.

terbang, MSTRS, seriously, I have no idea what's prompted Ixion and Motu's decision.

    I don't need to know.

I have never been punished here for saying what I think so I'm guessing there is a simple non alinghment of ideals. To function - the leaders of an organisim must have a similar value set and direction. Ixion's value to KB was as a contributing member and perhaps not as a mod, the two are quite seperate but if he feels they are tangled together it is his call - a sad one but his call.

    Cheers

Specifically, no. In general terms though, it seems clear. Certainly is a loss to all of us, whatever the reason(s).

And what direction would that be? I should admit feeling very hurt by Ixion's parting shot for several reasons, the least important of which was a personal attack on me. But I am even more saddened, as most others are, at the loss of a person who has been a powerful and valued contributor to this site for a very long time.

Being a moderator is a thankless task, not that any of us do this for the thanks. And there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, in the engine room as it were, that most members are unaware of. Mods haven't all been somehow assimilated by the Borg and we value the different perspectives and skills we all have. Spankme's recent decision to step back from the day to day management of the site has impacted on the roles that moderators have traditionally played, and we're still coming to terms with this. We won't always get things "right", but in some cases there are no right answers. We're trying to work as a team and to understand what that means operationally.

Farewell Ixion and Motu. I'll really miss having you guys around.

Well yeah but if we all voted with our feet then it would be up to hitcher to explain to spank why he had to turn the lights out. The site needs membership or else it is nothing more than just a bunch of wuns and zero's. There has been a fairly rapid exodus recently (for various reasons) by some of the more colourful and interesting people on this board. People that were often well respected and others that amused, they made it what it was. Are we all now to be blue eyed and Aryan for the new reign and only say "jolly nice bike those FJR 1300's and I once rode a ST1300 too" because questioning why some of our friends dissappear is also verboten.

I think this explains my personal standing better than I could.

Change brings different reactions out in different people.

The Senior mods are working as a team to help better the site, we are doing our best in sometimes tricky situations.

I hope Ixion does change his mind and return to Hotel California, he departing speach, may have taken a cheap and personal shot at Hitch, which I dont think is fair... but at the end of the day, his contribution has been very valued - even to me as a person, I learned heaps from Les.

Although performing a thankless task, with outcomes that seldom keep everybody happy, there must be a lesson to be learned by the mods (and the rest of us too).....if something isn't broken, then don't fix it!!
