Hi folks. I'm writing this from a hilltop in Wellington, aka Mum's

I'm recovering from what seems to me to be quite a nasty cut in my lower abdomen necessary to repair a hernia that I suffered years ago whilst moving house. I was carrying an old fashioned washing machine and felt it all just go pop.

Anyway, ACC, in their drive to reduce costs told me that it wasn't caused by a "single event" and refused to cover it. I would have had to go through major red tape and months of waiting to appeal so just decided I couldn't be bothered with it all and finally got onto the public waiting list about five years later!

So, to cut a long story short, on Monday I reported to Palmerston North hospital at 1130 am and two hours later I was given a general anaesthetic and woke up 50 mins later to find that this big hole in my abdomen had been repaired with a large piece of plastic mesh.

It bloody hurts though and two days later I'm still basically bedridden although I'm managing to limp around the house more and more now. So I'm hoping that it won't be too much longer until I can walk around pain free.

I'd like to say a huge thanks to Sarah, Chanceyy and my Mum for all the support and caring

And thanks too for the posts, texts and pm's guys, that's been great

I can't wait to get back on the bike, but I know I can't right now, so I'll be content with imagining what it will feel like in a few weeks time

    What a complete arse

So i take the viffer for a warrant expecting to replace the rear tyre and away we go:

ah no sonny - you're screwed, and whoever put the last warrant on it was either a total idiot or dodgy as hell

Rear tyre no good (ok, expected that)
Front tyre no good (I actually argued that one a bit, there's still a fair bit of tread there)
Rear brake pads (seem ok but ohwell)

Right fork seal leaking (a little, only a little)

but here are the best bits:
Handgrips loose (okay, pretty minor but like that when i got it and it had a wof)
Broken tail light lense where you cant even see it (like that when i got it and it had a wof)
Front disks under thickness (like that when i got it and it had a wof)
Rear disk has surface cracks (like that when i got it and it had a wof)
End of clutch lever gone (like that when i got it and it had a wof)

so obviously the buyer dont want it (and I dont blame him), the disks alone would be $8-900!!

I'd like so say a huge thanks to Hastings Honda for putting a quite obviously dodgy warrant on it which it should never have got

any suggestions on what to do with it? i really would like to get some cash back from it somehow, i guess parts is the only way, unless i can get it fixed on the cheap

    Cheers Mark

Yep, a hernia repair is no joke alright, and it had to be done, otherwise they just get bigger and can end up strangling an intestine which can be fatal.

They're OK to begin with, but there come a point where you just can't ignore them.

They're more common in males, so just be careful everyone - don't lift anything that you know is too heavy!

Bummer Jonno! Still, you could shop around 2nd hand dealers and prob get those parts for a reasonable sum. Try Buckets n Bits in Wellie. The guy there sorted me out with a mirror for the gixxer for $20 plus p&p. Took 2 days from 1st email too!

    buger.

tyres are tyres. easy fix there/
handgrips.. get a syringe and pump some glue in there.

rotors are a biggy. have a talk to a guy who does freddys discs up in tauranga somewhere. very cheap aftermarket rotors but still dont expect to get away for under $400.

I am guessing that you took it to a bike shop cause VTNZ or ONROAD would never have picked up half these things.

You could spend some time repairing it over time or reauction it with the problems in the open and hope to get $4-500 for it.
