It's on already, I just simply removed the old donk and plopped the XL185 in it's place. It's all wired for the XR200 and same carb. When the 200 ran it revved right out to it's max so nothing wrong with the CDI or coil. Once I put the 185 in it started first kick...couldn't believe it! Idles well. Tappets are a bit clacky. Timing Chain doesn't rattle. But once you throttle up to about midway it starves...but doesn't backfire so might not be fuel? I'm wondering if the advance curve of the CDI may be slightly different? If it runs would the magneto coil be faulty?

Anyway, sanity prevailed, I'll wait for a 60 to come up rather than go for the 80. Meanwhile just swapped the XR200 motor over to XL185 and lowered the suspension so it's only about 4 inches higher than a XR100. Indy's play bike while waiting his turn on the KX60. It's a runner but misses before it gets a chance to rev out, sounds like starving. Have to check whether the XR200 carby and CDI is compatible with the XL185 motor. Any clues anyone?
New MNZ year coming up so you may find that kids will be going up a class then into the 85's so more 60's/65's will be for sale. Is that the motor that had seized at Tussock???

Nah that motor is out now. The erraticly running motor is the spare XL185 motor. Just consulted the manual. If the ignition isn't advancing then the cause could be the pulser generator being sticky. Might be the culprit.
Incidently the 185 oil pump is the same as the 200!

Mate buy a 60 or 65--theres one up right now on tard me.
The thing is you will sell it off fast enough when they outgrow it.
I must say mate in my opinion you woulda been better to have left ya girl on the 100 a bit longer--just my thought though

No mate Tauranga. so very close really.
Re the xr -I think your boy is ready for an 80 or 85 but I think the 65 might give your girl a fright.
I got a bit of advice from a bloke who was one step in front of us. He said to haul the $25 plug out and just use the $5.00 ones untill the kids are on the gas a lot.

We run the cheaper plugs in my 80, did that after going through waaaaay too many racing plugs. I don't notice a difference with my riding but John does.

Awesum - bet you're itching to get back out there!!! Both John & Atlanta have been outta commission for 4 weeks now - John will prob be back on very soon whereas Atlanta has at least 6 weeks to wait. Now you've jst gotta free yourself from the yard so we can go out to The Sandpit or something.

thanks for the link, I'll take a look see.

Yep piece of piss, idled up, almost tempted to nudge the back of the van in front of me which was stuck in the sand, give him a helping hand, trouble is vans walls are paper thin and woulda probably crumpled like paper mache, coulda damaged his precious bike stored inside. Pity it wasn't a Holden so I coulda dissed Barts.
