Pretty common safari bike look. It probably is an after-thought: "first sort the water & fuel storage, 'cos we can plumb the exhaust pretty much anywhere we want/need." 28L up front plus 2x 10L side tanks:

Try see how it looks at 160km/h through the desert, get back to us!

Low front guard is better for speed and stability. The blunt front end comes from the height, standing on the pegs but still wanting wind protection, plus framing the 3 or 4 nav instruments. The middling bash plate on my bike cops a hammering, the racers go bigger for more protection and storage. The exhaust has minimal bends for maximum flow and there's probably an element of cooling involved ie not heating up the rest of the bike. And if you drop it on its side - you're fooking fooked so who cares about the bike!!

It's all function over form, but sexy enough within the functional boundaries.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Yeah, but the bike doesn't have any serious scratches or dings or mud, either. Show pony!

I think I like this version better. I guess this the official RallyE Version. (Cyril Despres 2009 Dakar)

Love that dual exhaust setup like the 690 Supermoto

I don't think I would want to do that to my 690e, but I do like the idea of some handlebar risers and a screen. +shopping list

Yeah I think you are right.

But there is the dual exhaust setup. Looks pretty good, but i can't imagine it being that practical for off-roading, drop that either side and you are going to cause some damage to the exhausts
