Oil change, oil filter, air filter - When?

Ah....that was my next question - whether you had the original Honda service manual that came with the bike. As it sounds like you do, just refer to pages 43 through 48 for your engine & gearbox oil change 9and coolant check). Also make sure you are running a mix of anti-freeze (most people tend to run 50/50 mix with water unless you are using a premixed coolant) to keep the boiling point down and corrosion at bay. Usually the coolant should be a bright green colour (though some are red or blue) if it looks dirty or cloudy it would pay to flush the coolant system and change the coolant. (page 48-51)
Pay attention to the manuals procedure for checking the oil levels as it's easy to overfill if you're not careful.
You can buy specific oil for the gearbox otherwise just use the same 10w/40 oil (high quality) in engine and g/box.

I change my oil every 3,000 kms

in dirt bike terms, thats about 50-100 hours.

if we changed our oil after 100 hours id hate to see what would happen

should we keep posting irrelvant things? or maybe stick to areas where we have something useful to offer

You've got the oil that goes on the air filter (spray on stuff is the easiest) usually blue or red and hellishly sticky, and gearbox oil that keeps your clutch all nice and wet - goopy gold coloured stuff If it's milky or has bits of clutch in it it's probably time for a change
I do my air filter about every three rides or more often if it's really dirty. Bit slack And do the oil when it looks like it needs doing It's real basic once you've done it once. Just don't strip any bolts and you're sweet.

Air filter is every ride mate, don't be slack it will cost you in the long run.

ATF is a cheaper option for 2stroke trans fluid, then change every third ride rather than wait for milky colour (thats not good).

OH buggar! Went to Fells Farm to watch and haven't done the oil change as yet! My bike will just fall apart! I have the manual! I will do it before my next ride! I think it would be easier to pay someone!!!!

Zomg I've been changing my gearbox oil on my little 2 smoker every ride, until someone said I didnt need to ... now its every 3 rides.... air filer gets cleaned every ride religiously. Is it weird that my dirt bike looks as clean as my road bike. We've got 3 dirt bikes in the garage and my one is shiney even the rims and spokes hehe.
