Learner curfew exemption?

Is it even possible to get an excemption from the 10pm - 5am curfew part of the Learner liscence? for work I mean.

Any info is good.

You can be granted an exception for anything at all however I suspect you should talk to someone at the MOT government department over how you go about doing it and whether you have any chance of success. If your employer is willing to put the words down on paper then that will be a good start.

I have heard of guys on KB who have got exeptions to the 250cc rule due to their physical size.

Yes you can get an exemption for riding outside of your license conditions, you just have to apply. The exemption may be granted, but it will be for very clearly defined times and places. You should be able to get it for transport to and from your work, at set times and on set days without too much problem. Just apply, you will need to get your employer to write in as well stating your hours of work etc. Good luck!

When I worked till very late at night, my boss just told me to bring the ticket straight to her if I bump into any officer along the commuting route. I don't know exactly how it works but I believed and gained peace of mind.

Yes, in theory, you can get an exemption for any condition on your license. Whether it is approved, well, thats a whole new ball game. Search the forum for exemption, there have been several threads (I even made an FAQ)

General rule of thumb: You are less likely to be granted an exemption on a learners license, than a restricted, due to your limited time on motorcycles (and subsequently, skill level).

i applied for and was granted an exemption due to work hours [was finishing after midnight and the bike was my only form of transport] i was on my learners at the time and hadnt had it for very long at all. my boss had to write a letter, which i sent away with my forms. cost i think $25 at the local AA office. the letter said i had to take the most direct route, which was a road of street lights which wouldnt change to green for my bike. so i took the next most direct route that didnt have any lights, lol. never did see any cops, so i may as well have saved the money, but better safe than sorry.
