I believe you are correct. It will cause you issues when trying to repair damage and the duct tape won't hold it together when trying to get all the pieces home either.

To get the clay stains off is crc or wd40 good? what recommendations? I want to get it really clean before starting to spray with this stuff in case it seals the dirt in.

I use the spray that came in a "Muc -Off' kit I bought. Seems to work real well. Use it all over the engine and hard to keep clean areas on the bike. Also is a good water-disperser/lubricant.
By the way, the actual 'Muc-Off' cleaner is excellent.

Haha. I think you must be teasing. If tyres had no friction at all then the bike would never move. It would just sit there with the wheels spinning.
Silicon on the tyres would be the last thing you would want to improve speed. You want nice and sticky tyres.

what ya do mate is put a match stick in the valve just enough to let air leak out, snap the match off and lighty put the cap back on....flat tire couple days later...

Wow that's pretty flash, it upgrades your shock to an Ohlins while you clean it.

And re-painted the spring too...

The 808 type stuff is good for those with motors that are a kinda matte-black 'crackle' finish, looks new again after a quick spray when you've washed the bike and it has dried off.

Stops bugs and cow-shit and other gobie crap from sticking to the motor too.

I tihnk the new syntex must be the replacement for 808. It says new generation & was in the spot where the 808 usually is on the CRC stand.

Syntex isn't the new 808, it has been round for ages. The 808 cans have a different design on them now, maybe you missed them.
