L-Plate Rider
I picked up a 1984 Yamaha XJ600 a little while ago. Had been sitting in a shed for the last 15 years. So ive cleaned it up and got it running pretty good. Seems to be a nice smooth tourer. Anything i should look out for? As in common problems?

I bought a new XJ600 in 1989. Cool bike. Did 37000 km's in the first year and no problems what so ever.

How about a 750?Know a bloke with one he was going to restore but seems to have given it away and may well part with the motor,still runs ok.

I had an XS750 Special, nice ride! And I'm only a wee bit, (okay a lot!), envious of your Z650. They were a fantastic bike in their day and I reckon would still cut the mustard today!

(Man we're old...Yes mate we sure are.All things considered i dont think i would change much at all,born just south of the Hundaless having my first bike at 9 (SL125) a motorcycle mad father and the nearest cop 40 odd miles away i reckon ive had as good fun as you can have on 2 wheels with much more to come,i shake my head in wonderment every time i see another "lanesplitting"thread.

Funnily enough I don't really mind being a Grandpa, I still love bikes and riding, even if I do have to lanesplit up this way...
It was my mother that was the biker and it was her BSA Bantam 125 I learned to ride when I was 12 and still have deep fondness for them! She also liked borrowing my T500 to go visit Grandma down in Tauranga from where we lived in Warkworth. Swore she never took it over 90 though...
