LOL!!! That's the good thing about bein' older, I guess, you have things to reminisce about.

Me and the Missus been doin' a bit o' that lately... She reminisces about when I was skinny and handsome and I tell her I'm twice the man she married...

No after a 600 only as most parts will interchange with the 550 I am building for pre82, I'm really only after a head complete with cams

Nice bike at the time and still is.Mate had an XJ1200 when he was in the army, had it new then he was posted to Egypt for 6 months or so.Was ok as he left his bike at his parents place and told his younger brother start it each week or so and if it travels anywhere lookout. The brother had an XJ 550 off hand, just prior to his brother returning chucked his rear wheel on the 1200 as the 550 was near bald, the older brother took a second to work out the joke, his mum said noone rode the bike at all off the section, but there was a large black mark in garage.Boys being boys.

    This is a good thread,
    Good score on the XJ.
I still love tucking in behind those front runners on my old XS1100, eh 98tls, get them a bit worried when she wobbles aroud the corners lol,
Old school elctrics dont let you down like the new fandangled computor programmed engine management thingies.
Just kick em into life and ride them till the gass runs out,
Yamaha tourers have always been known for a long life at big throttle openings,
I dont think you will have much trouble finding forums that focus upon the XJ.
Good bikes always have a good following

And generally on such bike dedicated forums theres some really clever buggers that when bits are no longer obtainable just go out to the shed and make em (TLDV8 off here for one),he whipped up a billet rear master cylinder in his shed that was such a piece of work it resides on my mantlepiece rather than my bike.

    Hmmm tempting, solely as spares.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
