thanks Joe - maybe that's good enough reason to flag going for a ride in 'rapa and considering coming on the RRRR instead next weekend - ciao S

Sorry mate, I'm in Hamilton. It's crystal clear blue skies here. I think the bike will get exercised today.

stayed home and got some chores done instead - replaced low beam bulb on the bimmer and fitted new E09 to front of the DR so all in all a satisfying day - had the JMJ whanau pop in for a cuppa so all in all a good day

the weather is cool and still here today - perfect for a little ride

I know its short notice - but just in case....

I'm taking the DT from the Paraparaumu end of the Maungakotukutuku Valley through to Karapoti - unless the clay surface is too snotty in which case I'll bail.

leaving the quad centre (at the start of the track) about 12?

well you fookers missed an awesome mud fest in the mungatooks on Sunday.

Bruce and I (and most probably Fred) will be heading up Odlins Rd on Sunday the 12th July mid morning

Unless I have new tires on the KLR I'll be on the DT

all welcome - big bikes will need good tires

You better make sure your back is rested up if we do! It's a lot heavier than a 5 year old.

The E-09 rear on the PD is getting fairly low, it's done about 6000km's now and the front is an 80/20 tyre, not really mud suitable.

The G/S on the other hand has the perfect tyres on it, but it don't go.

Odlins Rd doesn't seem to be badly affected by rain. Gets a bit ruttier but there is very little clay - its mainly a stony/gravelly surface so it doesn't deteriorate like the mungatooks does in winter.

If you take the PD then I'll man up and take the KLR (its rear E09 is transparent)

Actually that RR you put up looked like fun, though on a big bike you'd want solid stretches every so often, not just one continous bog.

there was the odd non boggy bit when you were crossing streams

it was fun on the DT but I still had to poke a leg out many times to stop gravity having its way and doing that is a painful experience on the top heavy klr.

maybe the PD's low centre of gravity would make it more fun than the klr.

if you want to go through on the PD I'll bring the DT and the camera....
