LOL I just had to say that I read that comment without reading the rest of the thread first and had a quiet little laugh to myself!! Not such a little John huh?

Anyway, your bike, are you sure you want to jump into a MX bike? The fact that you said somewhere that you use the lower end of the rev range I wonder if you will be well suited to a 2 smoker MX bike. I just wonder if there is some mods you can do to your DRZ to liven it up? No doubt you will learn fast on a MX bike, but maybe the likes of a 150 4 stroke will be better? or are they all shit?

The weight is also a big factor here as well the 150 4s are to much for her to pick up once a little tired becomes a real strugle then your that knackered you just end up droppin it again.

Bah I couldn't be bothered scrolling through 8 pages. I knew what you were on about, thought it was just funny.

Barty - if the weight is such a big issue, how about a BMX? Just having a laugh about what some women perceive is heavy is a state of mind. I've watched a neighbour complain that the 7kg weed eater was too heavy for her to pick up and then she went and picked up a 15kg child without hesitation.

Had a go on Reckless's daughters CRF150, had a little more pep and the height/weight was a wee bit better but still I'm sure I'll get over it in no time. And the weight is an issue, picking up something off the ground that is double my body wieght is kinda difficult, also the fact that I wind up under the bike with my legs tangled up in it doesn't help.

cheese you're begining to sound like the rest of the 4 stroke population!

an 85 will be sweet as. light and plenty of power with good suspension.

if theres not enough bottom end, chuck a pipe on it. its not like they take off and do backflips when the revs get up anyway.

kids around the world learnt how to be good riders on 80/85s for the last 25 years - its not that hard

flywheel weight would be a better and cheaper option for more bottom end,
FMF fatty's are about the only pipe around that make better bottom end on 85's

Exactly. So many ladies on here started off on 85's and are doing fine. If they cope, why the hell can't I?

You will be totally fine. Maybe by saying "you'll just have to get use to it" pple have interrupted that as you not being that keen???

Seems to me that you have made your decision to go for an 85. Good choice i reckon.
Don't let people talk to out of it. You know how to ride a bike - i didn't when i got mine. I didn't even know how to start it, change gears - nothing.
Yeah i've come off mine but nothing major & i'm far from scared of it.

Go for it you won't be dissappointed.

I agree - on another thread people were talking about moving up to higher spec bikes and sizes too soon. I agree that it is good to learn skills on a slightly smaller bike and then move up.

Hell I totally get the lifting bike off yourself. I was out alone and came a massive cropper and legs caught and bike litterally on top of me....lifting it up was a nightmare. In saying that I can lift my bike onto the car rack I have without help normally!

where do you get these from? i want to have a look at a few to see how they work.

would be handy if im doing a long trip - eg auckland to be able to drive my car up there instead of having to take the van or trailer
