wat reckless says, learn to use the clutch to keep it on the pipe, never ridden a 85 but on the 125;s you fan the clutch alot to keep it in the rev range, same as a 250 4t as well, have looked at a few 250 2t latly myself, cant wait to get back to the power band!![]()

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!
'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Cool, clmintie, photo time with brand new bike! Must wear makeup and do hair!!! See you on Wednesday! I see you helped a guy out showing him a site on another post. You don't happen to know where I could find tips on riding a 2 stroke. I've googled and looked in the library! I need to understand how it all works!!! Ta.![]()
Now if you'd been paying attention at Broxy training..........
Do you remember what he was on about when this photo was taken? Using the clutch to maintain the amount of drive required, with a constant throttle setting?
Then later the "rule of three" of cornering (my name for it....) too hard to 'show' you on here, will have to wait for Wednesday.....
I'll have a look on the interweb and see what I can find for you......
Side note.... Isn't the clutch action nice and smooth on the KX?

Oops, was I listening at Broxy? I think I was! Don't remember that though! I'm having a lesson on Wednesday with Clmintie! Oh yeah! Don't understand the concept of 'you've got to be on the pipe all the time'. 'Keep the revs up'. Does that mean revving the bike? You can reveal all oh wise one!
Oops, didn't mean to sound like a know it all..
The KX will get you pretty much anywhere a 4T will, once you get the hang of keeping the revs up where the motor makes it's best power, then "feathering" the clutch to control forward motion and drive without excessive wheel spin.
A session with Birchy would be your best move at this stage, he's the king of this stuff....... I think he's got a training day on the 25th? which we can't get to. Grace and Sophie will get to a Birchy training on day, but Mum and Dad are in danger of running out of money... my oldest daughter has managed to get herself accepted into a posh English university (she's the cleaver one in the family...!!) and pounds ain't cheap...........
Wednesday will be fun...........

ridden your old 200ktm a bit mate, but not what I want at the mo. In fact ridden loads of 2strokes, and favorite was a yz125 so far, don't know why just loved it. Still haven't tried a ktm300 though, would like to see what they're like.
Keen for a swap next time at the sandpit, like to see if there is much difference between an 03 and an 08. Reckon you've already made your mind up about any 4stroke already!!! One thing that is worth noting is that I rode a lot of different bikes when I'd had enough of my old bike. And found most of what I'd been told by various people, and thier opinions to be wrong and the bikes were the almost opposite in some cases. Some things are true though, you seem to think that with a smaller engine bike you can ride it quicker/better, I'd agree 100% there. It's all about confidence, being comftable, and you being in total control, not being worried what the bike will do next. Bit like the girl on this thread, I bet after a couple of good rides she'll start to get on the gas more and really enjoy it.
