Whelp, I actually like the new Cadbury packets. However (but!) I've decided to buy Whittakers from now on, as I don't like the 'new improved' Cadbury taste. Plus Australian chocolate is marginally inferior to UnZud stuff, as their milk's not as good.

Had some nice Belgian chocolate in Brussels, but it was expensive when the exchage rate was taken into account.
As for Hitcher's preferred chocolate? Schoc is very expensive (yeah, I [I]know[I] it's a boutique NZ company) and I didn't rate it, although I only tried the chili one, which I'm not big on. Lindt's OK, but also not cheap. Taste's a personal thing, I guess.
Also (plus) I'd rather support a Noo Zilund company so Whittakers FTW.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

It's a fact, they used to be 250g and have been reduced to 200g, it was on Campbell Live last week and Cadburys didn't deny it when interviewed.

If I have my facts wrong I'm happy to be re-educated though.

Heres the reply i got from em a while back when i complained about
the new choc being made in OZ.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your feedback regarding our
newly released packaging and moulded blocks. Because our Marketing
Department researches products before launching to ensure consumer
acceptance, we were disappointed to receive your comments. We have
however, logged your comments and forwarded them on to our Sales and
    Marketing Personnel for their information.

We have invested in research to better understand consumer needs in
relation to flavour and format (pack-size) and have kept our range in-line
with key outcomes of our research. We have tailored our range to aim to
satisfy every need and consumption occasion that the research has told us
    our consumers want.

The block squares have increased in size but decreased in thickness, Upon
opening the new-look pack, consumers will see a more contemporary design
‘pip’ or chocolate square size. Feedback from Consumer testing indicated
this shape provided a greater ‘mouth-feel’ enhancing the chocolate
delivery and is easier to break with fewer crumbs.

We have reduced the weight of our block chocolate range to provide more
convenient packaging sizes. We have also reduced the price we charge to
retailers to allow our blocks to be competitively priced within the highly
    competitive chocolate market.

It is important to note that as a manufacturer, by law, Cadbury does not
set the retail price paid by consumers. This is done by the retailer where
    you purchase the product.

In August last year we announced our $153NZ million investment to secure
the longer term future of our local manufacturing operations by
transforming our chocolate manufacturing sites across Australia and New
Zealand into specialist centres of excellence.

As part of the major investment, we are spending $51NZ million to upgrade
and transform the Dunedin factory into a centre of excellence for chocolate
assortments. When this work is complete in 2010, Dunedin will produce
Cadbury’s chocolate assortment range for the Australian and New Zealand
markets, with approximately 80% of the Dunedin product being exported to
    Australia.

As a result of Dunedin being upgraded to produce the assortment products
that were made in Australia, the moulded blocks that were produced at
Dunedin are now made in Claremont in Tasmania. Dunedin will continue to
manufacture, Jaffas, Pebbles, Pineapple Lumps, Chocolate Fish, Buzz bars,
    Pinky Bar, and Perky Nana.

For many years, our manufacturing sites in Australia and New Zealand have
made the highest quality great tasting Cadbury products for both countries.
A number of NZ favourite chocolate blocks including Black Forest, Cadbury
Desserts range, Caramello, Roast Almond and Old Gold have been made in
Australia for a few years now. New Zealand and Australian consumers love
and trust the products we make for them and we look forward to that
    continuing.

We are doing whatever we can to ensure we continue to be a long-term
manufacturer and employer in New Zealand, and this investment is a big part
of securing our long-term future in New Zealand.

Please do call us on 0800CADBURY (0800 2232 879) during business hours if
    you have any further questions

    Kind Regards

I read this whilst sipping a hot chocolate made with Whittakers 72% melted over a water bath them blended with cream and milk, as I have occasionally done for years, never use that Crapburys stuff, it took them years to cotton on to making good dark chocolates to cook with.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

I have not ever had Whitakers chocolate before and have always preferred Cadburys. My household consumes 5-10 bars of chocolate per week, so we can definitely be classed as Salad Dodgers.

    Today I bought:
    1 x Toblerone Fruit & Nut
    1 x Whitakers Fruit & Nut
    1 x Cadburys Fruit & Nut

OK - So now I have converted the household to Whitakers.

    Go buy their shares!

    This time next year Rodders..............

Meh! The monkey's got nothing to worry about. Plants are loving the increased CO2 in the atmosphere. Together with increased urbanisation in third world countries the rate of regeneration is such that at present, the Earth is seeing a net increase in rain forest coverage annually.

So really all they have to do is come down from the trees, learn to build boats and sail to South America
